Other Half Camera Lens

Lets say Sony cooperate with Jolla to make an Other Half lens.

Now THAT would be EPIC :p

Poor Nokia and Elop if that happens :D

Yeah I know this will not happen but...

Re: Other Half Camera Lens

If not, we'll just attach the camera via NFC on Jolla :p
Simple enough

Re: Other Half Camera Lens

This is in the wrong forum - please move it to 'Jolla The Other Half' as it's related to hardware.

EDIT: To the topic - it looks interesting, but makes me bit worried as it lacks any hardware connection and relies on NFC+WiFi only. I hope Jolla doesn't go that way.

Why not attach a bazooka with it?

Re: Other Half Camera Lens

as the rumor clearly states, this would be an Android device / App
thus Sony is likely to provide an Apps to drive that, for Android, obviously
most likely, the specs of the device would remain "trade secret" and the driver proprietary anyway (do i need say more???)
so unless Jolla goes Android...

EDIT: as a matter of fact, Sony is more likely (if the whole thing ever passes rumour state...) to provide a WP driver
thus NOKIA would benefit from it more or less free of charge

This has been discussed before, read on about NFC an you realise thats not the purpose of NFC technology...

It would be interesting to get some attachable lens extension for smartphones camera.

P.S. Dream on, Jolla will never get that technology (20.2Mpx), you will have to choose between a cheap open-source phone affordable for all "hackers" or a "iphone competitor" for the price.

I dream about Ricoh making a Jolla Other-haft camera. I absolutely love their GXR and GRD cameras.

Also, Photojojo makes extra lenses for the iPhone, which apparently also work for Lumia 920 'cause it has a magnetic ring. These lenses can be used without any modifications!

That's exactly the purpose of NFC, and the QX10 and QX100 support it: Starting the camera application, connecting to the camera module wifi when the module is attached etc. Heavy data transfer through wifi, of course.

Re: Other Half Camera Lens

For whatever is worth, I just bought a QX10 camera, the protocol is documented, and it does not look too hard to make it working on the jolla (or on harmattan). The android playmemories application does not work for me, however.
