(Solved) CSSU hildon, how to remove portrait mode
How do i lock cssu hildon-desktop to use landscape mode permanently?
Remember the mainframeterminals from the 70s or arcademachines from the early 80s ? they also were in portraitmode... and always with a black background with orange, green or white graphics. in the 80s we got modern looking landscapeterminals with colour :) - apple classic was the last computer sold that had a screen with portraitmode in black and white... |
Re: CSSU hildon, how to remove portrait mode
You can fixate it from the menu afair.

Re: CSSU hildon, how to remove portrait mode
This is what I've done:
1. Installed orientation lock applet as freemangordon said (in my case, by installing CSSU); 2. Set lock to landscape only; 3. Uninstalled orientation lock applet. That way I do not waste screen estate in the status bar or in the status menu. My phone is permanently locked in landscape, although some apps (most notably Phone) force it to portrait temporarily. I believe orientation lock will work without CSSU but I'm not sure. I have a faint recollection of having successfully tried that but I have tried so many things that I may misremember. Edit: Once your phone is permanently locked in landscape, you may consider removing rtcom-messaging-ui-portrait. It is for reading SMS in portrait mode. |

I know, I know. I prefer Phone in portrait anyway. It was just to illustrate that apps can force portrait should they wish to, even when the rest of the phone is locked in landscape.

Re: CSSU hildon, how to remove portrait mode
There are gconftool's for this if you don't wish to install and remove the lock applet.
http://wiki.maemo.org/Community_SSU/Features You should have full CSSU not just modified-h-d as per acrean. |
Re: CSSU hildon, how to remove portrait mode
Oh ok. Would mention it as a feature not a bug, carry on

rtcom_ui will be removed :) I also found the lock applet in /usr/share/hildon_status_menu/disabled/ ..so i probably have had this problem before ;) |
Re: CSSU hildon, how to remove portrait mode
You can use configuration editor
go to apps/osso/hildon-desktop and tick your preference |
Re: CSSU hildon, how to remove portrait mode
Alternatively,
You can edit /etc/mce/mce.ini and remove "accelerator" from the Modules line. Or you can "modprobe -r lis302dl" (you can put it in some init script). |
Re: CSSU hildon, how to remove portrait mode
Thanks sourav.dubey and reinob for your kind help :)
But the problem was solved when i found that i have hidden the orientation-lock-module from the menu since long ago ;) |
