Jolla & Nokia ?
http://mobiili.fi/2013/09/25/onko-jo...tasi-omallaan/
As you can see, "Sail set for Nokia world.." and picture of small boat (Jolla in Finnish) and after that Antti Saarnio from Jolla tweeted "Sail is set for Jolla world". There is speculation of humor or some kind of collaboration for example with HERE maps for Jolla ? Let's see! |
Re: Jolla & Nokia ?
It feels like they are trolling with us...

Re: Jolla & Nokia ?
The only way this would make sense is to have Nokia HW + sailfish os. Nokia just sold their mobile unit. So how can that match?
EDIT: unless they sold the LUMIA line only... |

What the new communication device will be? With Sailfish os..? |
Re: Jolla & Nokia ?
Jolla most leave Finland ASAP. They need to step out of the shadow of Nokia and that is impossible in Finland. Nokia owns Finland mobile world even without their mobile devices.

When first Microsoft Lumia phones arrive every one in Finland will realise that there will be no new Nokia phones and finds Jolla. |

Yeah. But in Norway, actually. |

Even if they would run very fast very far, Nokia would still follow them. |
Re: Jolla & Nokia ?
What are you saying? Jolla should move to Norway because there are lots of trolls in the north? Or did the trolls really live in Norway? What are people doing in Norway anyway... Hunting for oil, skiing and build future jolla device?
Thank you for calling my statements facts ;) I can't agree. |
Re: Jolla & Nokia ?
... what the hell is this thread about?

Re: Jolla & Nokia ?
I do not know what it is about. What I know, is Microsoft will own 10% of the left over ½-Nokia (NSN, Here, patents), and Nokia will own patents, and Nokia will continue license those patents to Jolla. If ½-Nokia won't survive, in time Microsoft will own also that ½-Nokia and I wonder what will then happen to Jolla and to the licenses it now has from Nokia.

Maemo dead... 1 bullet
Meego dead... 1 bullet Nokia dead... 4 bullets Ubuntu edge dead... 1 Bullet Tizen half dead half alive... Jolla walking dead... All bullets are already used... I just called your hand... Cat is safe. The news feed from the small five are really dry so people here speculate like its no tomorrow. I've even seen people QUOTE and answer their own speculations :D |

Now when NMP is leaving Nokia, there will be no MS based OS'es in any Nokia products, instead there are at least 4 other major platforms that I know of; one is totally own-grown, two are loosely based on BSD implementations and one is a linux distribution. |

What I was pointing out is that Nokia has several other OS'es in use (and has had for a long time, mark you), and now when the UE business is sold off to MS there are no ties left there. |

Microsoft have to start fight to get more manufactors using windows on embedded products and then later they may get payback in another ways. But yes if nokia is smart they choose some Qt based OS. However Nokia has not choosed smart the latest years, so why would they change now? Because Elop era ends? I doubt... If people are so stupid thinking that Elop was the only idiot at Nokia board, well then they are naive. We can only hope the new board is not to much "american sw is your best friend" but I have my doubts... |

Currently MS has some kind of foothold only on devices that need to provide some MS-compatible service, like some NAS boxes. (and even more of them work with other OSes than windows) Quote:
QT based OS only makes sense if you have a graphical UI... currently there are quite a lot of Nokia products that do not fall into this category :) |
