[v0.4.1] Persecute - indie WhatsApp client for harmattan [Support thread]
 
Persecute - indie WhatsApp client for Harmattan.

Pre-pre beta build. It may contain bugs (it contain bugs).

Application no longer maintained. All Donations will be returned to sender.

Written in pure Qt/QML. Reused N900's Yappari engine (Thanks to Scorpius!)

App should load and use existing Wazapp or Whatsup account. If not - please send me log file.

Features:
  • text private and group chats
  • sending media messages via system Share UI (in-app media sending not implemented yet). Supported sharings: Image, Audio, Video, Contact card, Location (from Nokia Maps), text and links (as plain text)
  • sending broadcast messages (you can broadcast media to multiple users via Share UI) or broadcast text from application
  • blacklist

Important:
  • Application connecting after launching and keeping connection until disconnected from application. Closing not disconnect you from WhatsApp server

@Schturman it should get account from wazapp. Please delete everything from /home/user/.whatsapp and try again. If not - send me log.

First, Thank you for your new creation !
When I stuck on registration screen, I tried to kill/restart persecute, tried manually adding the .db file from wazapp, but nothing help.
* At the end I just tried to register with my old sms code that wazapp already registered with this code. It tried to register but it failed. And when I killed persecute and started again it immediately connected and load 1 contact and 3 groups :) The contact shown as email address instead name.
* Sync contacts is also stuck -> killed persecute and started again -> show me all my contacts :)
* In the messages the rtl-to-ltr language shows correctly, same for group name. Thanks
* Tried to send pic to my friend:
a. in the message board it show me: Outgoing pic 1.6Mib 100%
b. In the Transfers screen it stuck -> pressed stop -> got message that only part of the file sent or something like this. I cant check now if he got this image or not, he not connected at this moment.
* In the inverted (black) theme and low light in the room, it's a little hard to see the colored lines in the messages (received/waiting).
Also on the profile screen of the group you can't see sign "+", it's just a black square (right lower corner).

it's just doesnt work for me. keep connecting forever. already tried to delete /home/user/.whatsapp. after instal. persecute, i cant get any of the 3 whatsapp clients to work :(

Udated...
* Failed to load app (2-3 times), I need to kill persecute from terminal, after this loaded without any problem.
* Sending image still not work. User on the other side not see it and not get it. Massage board show 100% like before, Transfers screen is also ok and show completed.
* Name of user jumped again to the mail. Only Disconnect -> close persecute -> start persecute again will fix it and name shows again. But after a few messages it jump again to the mail.

You can via system Share UI, it explained in the first post.

@v0id because media sharing not implemented :D use Share from gallery ;)
@Schturman name changes because user changing his nickname. add he to your Phonebook and synchronize. You will always see name from phonebook ;)
@Kaacz write to WhatsApp support and ask them WHY ;)

This is exactly a point... This user always was in my Phonebook with full name (First name, Last name, nickname etc..), Not was, it still exist with full name..
When I start persecute it shows me his name correctly, when I start conversation with him it still shows his name correctly and only after some messages it jumped to his email. So weird...
I updated now to the last version and I'll follow this again...

i uninstalled persecute. it just refused to work on my n9. even deleted all data from wazapp and whatsup...still same issues. after installing persecute it doesnt sync contacts and doesnt connect at all. log was sent some hours ago to coderus. i hope a later version will work for me. but for now, i'm happy that tareks client works.

Coderus, I sent you another log a few min ago.
Sending images is still problematic.. Other side not get it. I tested it with another user.
Also another bug with notifications (explained in the mail).
For now in this version the name of the user that i mentioned before is not changed to the mail. I'll continue to follow this.

It doesn't load my Wazapp database, it asks me to register, but it doesn't create a .whatsapp folder either, so I can't send you the log.

Another issue on my phone: when somebody send message and if persecute is in closed (swipe down) but connected state, the sender get update as message delivered but i don't get any system notification. When I open application i receive that message. Log sent.

It's possible to send only the contacts you want to Whatsapp Inc. when synchronizing? In Yappari is possible to choose to only send the ones with international prefix. For me, that function (or similar) to protect privacy of my contacts is a must. Yes, I know, lot of people maybe sent that data already, but I won't contribute.

Now I am using an Android phone (until I repair N900 broken USB port) and I am not using whatsapp because of privacy. Is inconvenient, but I will survive XD.
