Jolla Harbour

Sorry if I'm double posting, I didn't see this mentioned yet:

https://lists.sailfishos.org/piperma...er/000989.html

Some news about applications store from Jolla: https://harbour.jolla.com

The site doesn't open for me ATM.

shmerl 2013-11-06 16:58

Re: Jolla Harbour

It looks to be for commercial applications, not community ones, even though they write it's for free ATM (I guess not libre necessarily).

Since there is no way to specify dependencies in that store (as mentioned in the linked thread) there still needs to be a community repository besides this.

It has be noted but is always nice with a dedicated one. I'm looking for a shop battle between Jolla and tizen.

When will it open¿

No need for F5, it is under maintenance, you have to wait. But it works, I have logged in there earlier this day.

4. Application Quality

For us the quality of applications offered in the Jolla Application Store is of paramount importance. Because of that, we reserve the right to review any application submissions for quality purposes, and decline any applications we, in our discretion, believe do not meet our quality criteria. If we decline your application, we will use reasonable efforts to explain to you the reasons of rejection so that you can address the quality issues before submitting the application again.

I hope they live up with this and remove crappy applications so it does not end like BB crapstore or androids crapstores.

My mistake. But now I have two accounts. It always to have two. One for you uploads and one for downloads. And you never know if jolla come up with a deal later if you have an empty account ;)

Or play good cop bad cop if jolla won't behave:rolleyes:

Re: Jolla Harbour

It's dead. The harbour seems to have serious troubles. Maybe they shouldn't sent out that message to the list before they were ready. I hope the phone works better than this...

Anyone submitted?

so...some said that jolla no hope and no one wants jolla..etc2. but look at Harbour, damn it always down due to too many traffics. I can't even pass the login screen. lets hope Jolla consider some entreprise load balancer+HA on their web..

That's not indicative of much. On a poorly setup server, as little as 100 concurrent users trying to do the same thing can take it down if you've not tinkered the standard Apache2 settings out of the box.

Either way, I hope it's not an indication of what's to come; the lack of availability that is.

Re: Jolla Harbour

It will be ready when it has to b. Its not like the developers will abbandon jolla since their harbour went down first day of launch.

coderus 2013-11-07 07:42

Re: Jolla Harbour

Harbour is under development too. Developers got harbour link via mailing list because its not ready yet and need to be tested. And it is not ready to be published for everyone as final product.

Why only half of peoples can understand? :D

Just take a look at the most offending user in this thread; search his post history, you'll understand why.

Patience, ignoring him, and patience.

Well, that's also some sort of "other half". :p

Edit:
Joking aside, I am very optimistically looking forward to the release.
In fact, imho, it's very amazing what this rather small company (and it's community) has achieved so far. :)

Re: Jolla Harbour

Great thinking gerbick. Patience is a virtue!

I don't think ignoring is the right way, not sure what you are gaining, but if you believe in that I support you 110%.

If only waiting was a virtue...

They are still testing it, they should have implemented feature flags so they could test in production and enable disable features for real users and only test in office.

Re: Jolla Harbour

I think we should think of adding our own store or external repos. I don't think one is enough for an open platform.

Have a look at https://openrepos.net while we waiting for harbour to work.

Wine looks really cool :)

If you don't know about it : OpenRepos is a community driven personal repository system for Harmattan and Sailfish operating systems.

Yeap, and too much silence for that matter. Then again, it is the weekend and in fairness they haven't done any press release regarding the app[lication] store - only mailing list and twitter. I am no stranger to outages, and know that sometimes it's better to allow for a long outage to get proper service. Let's allow some time.

Other options, however, aren't a bad idea, and even Jolla encourages them :-)

Also IMHO non developers should just shut up. There is no reason for them to enter that site yet because:

1. There is no device out yet
2. The site is for those making apps for sailfishos, atleast until device is out.
3. There site is beta and not yet ready
4. There is very few apps uploade so far so no point for non devs to enter the site
5. I am sure the people working hard to get it ready but sitting here pressing F5 on the site on weekend is just plain stupid because the developers has the right to not work on free time even if some people may think they shall work 24h/7 days.

(Btw. I dont point at you I just pointed to the one you replyed.. and similar people with no life outside TMO)

Well, yes and no... you can't stop people from going to the site regardless. Maybe somebody isn't a developer yet, goes to the site, sees an application, gets an idea, starts developing, or contributing, or testing, or whatever? Also, curiosity is way too compelling sometimes.

If anything, if a lot of people go into the site it will give Jolla a good idea of the audience that is expecting, and will break it so that they have to fix it/scale it properly.

I know, I didn't take it personally or anything. I am not developing anything (mostly due to lack of time), and I think I tried once a day, if that.

Unlike you, I do see value in anybody accessing this site, not just for the above, but also for the word of mouth. There may not be too many applications yet, but there will be, and non developers knowing about it is great for free marketing, as they will talk etc etc.

Weekend though, so the sailors deserve a rest ;)

Amen.

I so hate it when people expect those who work for their living to live for their work - only to fulfill our every desire as consumers. I'd rather have the folks @ jolla spend a day or two with their families than work on web servers. (Not that I assume many of them can these days.)

By keeping the threads Alive its safe to say that atleast x devices have been sold. Your welcome ;)

I dont spend as Much time as some of you think over at TMO because i dont read nonsens :D my life style require a time effective lifestyle.

I don't think anyone expect jolla to do anything better than other businesses. Jolla system is far from critical and can be down for years and contain 1000s of bugs and still be accepted so I hope they enjoy their weekends and fix the issues during the coming weeks.

Do not forget that we also work and provide service to others in our work, and we also work to get paid to get the devices from Jolla. So it's fair enuf

I only work during my office hours. My employer doesn't own me, you know. I have a life.

I only work when I wants to. If you are smart enough you let others do the work so you can post atTMO...I have no life ;)

Now. Let's hope this store will be up and running within 24 hours otherwise I'm going apple store. Let's roll the dice...
