Is there any possibilty to change the start up animation "NOKIA" logo when the phone boots up??

I think he means NOKIA logo, which appears before those images.

I think it is hard-coded in init, so yes, it is possible by recompiling that.
The bad news is, Harmattan init is not open source... there it goes :(

Okay, point taken :)
Of course we can reverse init, I'd just need to check up a bit of the things it actually does, and unless there's some cryptostuff going on it is doable.
Maybe a new project for some upcoming rainy day :D

Isn't it just Upstart?

If he's referring to the boot loader logo (first one you see when you turn the phone on), that's part of NOLO, just like on the N900.

It has been replaced on the N900 - maybe the same could be done for the N9/50 ;)

Is it possible to just have the console on boot? I know you guys have pointed out how to do the serial connection, but it'd be great to see the kernel output and start scripts on boot.

Is it even possible to start in text mode without the UI and use something analogous to startx?

I still believe it can be possible to use USB-SERIAL interface: A way it was done on some Google devices is fairly good described here:

Unfortunately I don't think that's possible on N9.
Why it works on the given Samsung devices, is that the designers of the device have been clever and wired up the internal UART's RX/TX pins to the same pins that go to USB drivers +D/-D pins.

Clever hack but it requires that you have the HW there to support it...

thanks guys for your discussions really thrilled and yes am talking about the similarity of changing N900 NOLO part which has changed the NOKIA word and put what ever so is that possible with this device to change NOKIA word to anything
