[REQUEST] Vanilla Meego Theme for N9
 

Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone might be willing to do a vanilla (Stock) meego theme , or even icons only would be great!

You are getting unnecessary rude about this. Its a crap tonne more work then you think it is. You can't just copy paste, because that's stealing. You have to go and re make it yourself. I don't have a very fast computer, so things take a while to render. If its going to be a half decent theme, there is a ton of images. There are at least 200 toolbar images in the stock theme, a few hundred icons, and thousands of lines of CSS. Not to mention switches, toggles, buttons. Its meticulous and takes time, and every time you test you need to reboot, which also has the risk of a reboot loop of you have an incorrect character in the CSS. I have spend many hours working on my iOS 7 theme, Ancelad has spent lots of time on his sailfish theme. Quite frankly, if you lack respect for the people who spend time making things for this device, you shouldn't be using it.

One thing to add to what DJJonosound said. If it's so easy, why don't you do it and show us that you can do something useful and not just b!tch and insult people?

Perhaps you are right , it's better to make a crude copy with bugs , that most definitely resemble (almost copy) a theme like ios7 :D

You have taken that way out of proportion. If you think that way, please port iOS 7 to the n9 for the lols then. I wasn't even going to release my them in the first place, and it is far from buggy in my private version.
Also if you think it is a crude and buggy copy.

Even if you're speaking in a kind voice, 90% of your posts have a harsh connotation. If you have a problem playing nice, then get out. Nobody wants someone who's going to complain about everything and not do anything for himself. If you don't like the N9, or the community of TMO, then get an android, go to xda, and be annoying there. Idiotic comments aren't welcome.

i am trying to push the community to produce more and more. I couldn't give a damn if the vanilla meego theme came out , but I want devs to get up their butts and work as hard as maemo 5 apps/

You're one of those hypocritical people who attempt to get people who are doing their best to do more. Unless you have something legitimately important to say, it's probably a better idea to not say it. I am absolutely fed up with your attitude towards the other users on this forum who are veterans of this place. I'm pretty sure they support it to a small extent. I wouldn't be surprised if Jolla was able to release a small fix that increased usability in the U.S. I actually do know people who have N9s, who Jolla phones in the US is a possibility.

It works with baseband, but not with 3G or 4G, which means that as a smartphone the functionality is rather limited unless you're in range of wifi. And because this is a hardware limitation (the chipset doesn't support the necessary frequencies) the smallest fix Jolla could provide would be to release an entirely new phone with a different chipset.

the N9 is a phone from 2011 that launched DEAD ON ARRIVAL. the fact that there are still as many active developers for a DEAD OS three years on is already a feat in itself. if you're looking for a platform with hundreds of active developers you need to point yourself towards Android or iOS.

To give denizg some credit, there are things I am missing. In a descending order by priority -
1) A resistive touch-screen with a stylus for better accuracy;
2) A hardware keyboard or at least the cursor keys (the latter very badly);
3) A swirl-to-zoom gesture;
4) A home screen with shortcuts and widgets;
5) A camera lens cover;
6) A normal SIM card slot rather than the micro-SIM abomination;
7) An SD card slot.

All except #3 and #4 are hardware limitations though. I have yet to find what apps I might want that are not available in one way or another.

I recently bought an 808 Pureview (as a secondary phone), and I find that going back to a homescreen with widgets is not as rewarding as it was pre-N9.
I have never experienced the "swirl to zoom" that I have heard so much about. Is it really better than the double tap?

N900 has both. Swirl can do an arbitrary zoom, unlike double tap which only zooms to the paragraph. Not much help if the paragraph is already wider than the screen.

EDIT: I can live without widgets but something like a desktop or a home screen with only those icons that I choose would be a great plus. Every other OS has it (well OK, I don't know about iPhone, never had or wanted one). Too many icons are confusing.

EDIT 2: I have just (well, 5 days ago) discovered that the N9 has pinch to zoom :) That means I can strike #3 off my list ;)

The N9 homescreen is actually its app drawer so yes there's something like an home screen. In my opinion widgets are outdated already. you can arrange icons in other of importanve or usefulness to you. and you can group them in folders too. sometimes i also look at my screen and wish i could just see a free screen with a clock and some notifications, but it seems the lockscreen does that already.
For me the apps that are missing on my N9 i can live without them but having them would be great.
1. A Good PDF reader with night mood, and reading mode.
2. photo editing app. most of the ones available have very few features and few filters also.
3. A nice web browser.
4. i still cant play some videos on this phone.
5. NO file archiver
6. Thats not all but thats all i can think of.

Am still very greatful to the developers and the community. i still wonder what this phone would have been like if everyone gave up on it.
i am not opportuned to jump ship to sailfish and somehow i like meego better. And have been waiting for 'nemo' &'Glacier UI'.

being longer doesn't mean anything :) I've contributed more to this forum than you have. If you don't want to contribute a good attitude then I suggest you sell your N9, buy a moto g, go on XDA, and pester them. That is still my suggestion.
