Cannot log in Twitter app in N9 (after flashing)

Dear all,

I have flashed my N9 and cannot log in the official Twitter app. I do have access in the Facebook app.

Is this because I am signed into Twitter with my other android phone?

Regards,

Regards,

1. Did you flash open mode
2. Did you forget your password ;)

More details please. I dont have the problem at least on my devices (but, open mode can be an issue for you if you flashed that)

I have access to Twitter on my other android phone.
This is the message I get when I try to sign in Twitter on my N9: "Can't connect to Twitter"... after I insert my username/emailaddress...

What issues can there be if openmode is flashed?

OP: update your twitter app :)

Off-topic: Why do you use the worst Twitter client (stock client) on N9 when you have alternatives like Tweetian, Rocket etc... :o

I don't know about twitter since I do not use it, but I assume the same thing could affect here as with other services using Harmattan password storage;

When you go from Closed mode to Open mode, you have to regenerate the password storage with Open mode credentials, or else Aegis will block your access to stored passwords.

did you try to reset all connection settings?

In terminal, you need to execute these commands (one command per line):
gconftool --recursive-unset /system/http_proxy
gconftool --recursive-unset /system/proxy
gconftool --recursive-unset /system/osso

Sorry but I am a noob... what will happen if I execute these commands? Do I need to log in to all my apps? (Google, mails, ...)

This just resets all of your network connections (mobile and wifi access points).

The problem you are describing was a known bug in older versions of the native Twitter app. I am assuming that is why everyone is telling you to update it. Did you use an old image? What software version did you flash?

What version of the Twitter app are you using? This may have nothing to do with your problem. The most current is 1.3.95+0m8.

Have you tried creating a new account? I understand that doesn't fix the problem, but it might help narrow things down.

Thats the issue then :)

Go to: https://twitter.com/settings/applications and revoke acces for "Twitter on N9"
You should then be asked to verify the acces again when you try to log in from you N9

i have revoked access an i thought that would solve the problem too, but still cannot login...the same for qneptunea...still cannot figure out the problem...

Answering for myself not the OP but of the three I preferred the stock client over tweetian and found Rocket too unreliable. Notifications never seemed to work for me with Rocket and I didn't like the UI on Tweetian on the N9. It seemed a bit out of place with the N9 UI.

The only real problem with the native client was the thumbnail cache used to get clogged up after a while and you had to delete it manually to keep it running at a decent speed.

Tried to login via Rocket, Tweetian and Neptunea, but they all seem to be connected to the stock Twitter app...

The only way to see Twitter is through m.twitter.com but I miss the notifications...

If this is true than I am afraid that there is no solution to this problem since I am also based in China...

Re: Cannot log in Twitter app in N9 (after flashing)

Also faced the problem login to twitter after flashing.
1) Flash my device firmware by product code
2) When you first turn set up a Nokia account
3) N9 has detected a standard upgrade, including twitter, version - 1.3.95+0m8
4) Install all the updates.

When you try to set up an account twitter get the following:
1) Enter the name for twitter
2) turn on the login page, and I enter the password
3) click on the "authorize" application
4) After that, I have to go back to the native twitter, but this does not happen .. I remained on the login page application and available only buttons - "Cancel"

I have the same problem. :(

Code:

$ apt-cache policy twitter
twitter:
  Installed: 1.3.95+0m8
  Candidate: 1.3.95+0m8
  Version table:
    1.3.95+0m8 0
        500 https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com ./ Packages
 *** 1.3.95+0m8 0
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
    1.3.50+0m8 0
        500 https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com ./ Packages

In order to be able to install the 1.3.95_0m8 twitter update, I edited /var/lib/dpkg/status and changed twitter (= 1.3.50+0m8) to twitter (>= 1.3.50+0m8).

I have this problem too.

Is the conclusion that it is not fixable? :-(

If it is not fixable can one of the 3rd party apps post to the feed screen instead?

Gabriel

Anyone tried contacting Twitter support?
Maybe they can extend the life of the app token?

I am now using Rocket. It works well and posts to the feed screen (which is what I needed, too):
