Maemo Council listens to community
 

Hi,

Current Council is elected for a couple of months , so It's time to gather some feedback from community ...

It would be good to have both directions communication channel.

We'd like to use wiki more for organizing ourselves so let me recap those 2 addresses :

1st output page is the entry point of our activities (basically meetings) :
only council members are able to maintain it but anyone can read it :-)

2d this talk page could be edited by any member, just edit it the way you want

Then on each meeting we'll try to review it and sort out the suggestions or comments ...

So in other words, tell us what community representatives should care about ...

Of course you can contact us by other channels , but we like to prefer open communication to make sure every members know what is (or not) going on ...

Note: before something bad happens, let me remind that naturally community council expects community to be friendly , so all personal attacks or disrespect words will make the message void...

I believe selforganisation and transparency will result into benefits for community.


So please use wiki and put as many references you want (links to lists or forum etc)

I generally like transparency. Back when I was on Council I made sure:

• Meetings happened weekly, at a set time, in an open forum.
• Meeting minutes were posted to the Council Blog.
• That all messages sent to council (via council@m.o) were read and replied to.

Not an easy task, and it got lots of complaints for both "not being open and available enough" or "airing dirty laundry", usually at the same time.

I wish you luck in this. Personally, I'd love to see someone run for Council with this as their goal. But given how such people wind up being treated, I doubt it will ever happen again.

Thank you @rzr for this opening, this is a good way to get input to Council.
(don't know about the poll, though... we are a fresh council so probably a bit early to start judging us :p)

How about:

• posting meeting minutes (ML + Council Blog, also to make aware of this thread and the wiki pages)
• Update Midgard Pages (restructuring) - remove outdated/obsolete - prepare to represent MCeV (two of MCeV's board are council - should be possible to figure it out right?)

(possible to figure it out) how about MCeV is setting up some webpages so everybody could look up what's actual status of that thing? Not council's task though. Not even I have an idea who's board of MCeV, and I'm foundation member of that eV afaik.
[edit] actually "update midgard pages (restructuring)" is pretty fuzzy, I'm not sure I really understand what's meant. And I know what's midgard. unlike 99.9% of intended audience.

Yes, exactly. Not!
This period is meant for a time to let the nominees declare themselves and for discussions between them and the community.
And to give council some time to set up the election/voting process.
