AudioTOH

'Kitchensink-ish' TOH with all components remotely related to audio.

You name it, it will be there:
- i2c level converter
- i2c spi bridge
- micro-sd card
- full sized sd card
- sd mp3 decoder
- digital volume controller
- separate amps for L & R
- FM receiver
- headphone jack / line in
- micro usb port

Still to add:
- FM transmitter
- bigass speakers
- battery
- charging circuits (in/out phone & separately)
- physical control buttons
- full sized usb slot
- usb host (just for reading mp3s)
- lightning connector

This one will be the most complex TOH ever. I have my doubts it will ever see the light or be remotely affordable. But I learn a lot.

The basics:

SD slot and MP3 decoder:

FM receiver:

Re: AudioTOH

Even if you only put a few of these things in the final version, I want one!

Imagine throwing a HWKB into the mix - you would be very close to the N900 then.

Re: AudioTOH

So not so much a TOH rather a whole seperate device that just happens to attach to your phone

Basically yes, a whole shebang of devices that share the Jolla device as a display and configrator unit. Nice :D

All this goodness and not a single funky LED? I'm disappointed :p

usb hostmode chip added and most components are hooked up
https://dl.dropbox.com/s/5ho1heck37b2unu/imposible.JPG

to decrease the chance this will ever see the light, I downloaded the SDK and will do all programming myself. will be for sale around 2017.

Re: AudioTOH

Ordered all possible candidates that have acceptable thickness (<10mm) and enough but not too much power.

Will mount to BreadboardTOH to see if it can top this video.

This is awesome!
A combination with the SolarJolla would make it complete.

You want to have a solar panel with holes in them for speakers??? I don't think you have thought this one through.

Nice to see more and more great TOH projects realized (or at least thought about) by you.

Starting to dream of a "pocket-amp-OtherHalf" to plug in electric guitar and headphones for quiet rehearsal...

Then "just" add a "little bit" of software and you can get a mobile version of This nice project.

Wouldn't want to step on my Jolla, though... ;-)

Cool! Super possible to DIY, would start off with BreadboardTOH.

Nah, just thought everything might be positioned along the sides to keep the back free for a possible solarpanel. Didn't realize you literally mean BIGASS SPEAKERS :D

But with the extra battery included what would be the point of the panel right.

Mental note: read first, then think, then write comment :D

Btw, I definitely would be interested in a TOH like this! Do you have any idea about what it would cost (if it is at all possible to build)?

Alright, alright! You got me convinced.
Just ordered a BreadboardTOH to do "something" with it.

Will probably be lying around quite long at my home without doing anything sensible, but it will be a cool device even while lying around ;)

for your guitar amp:

6.5mm to 3.5mm jack
3.5 jack breakout
mono amp
speaker
step-up
lots of wires
some headers

dont expect to rock the house by the way ;)

Re: AudioTOH

Ordered a shitload of speakers, from 28 to 45mm diameter.

40mm speaker proved to be the best quality and loudest. Speaker is only 5mm thick, plus 1mm for protectiva casing and 1mm on the inside to have kindof a soundbox.

Result is better than I expected: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXrA...ature=youtu.be

Re: AudioTOH

Anyone here have successful experience with tiny speaker enclosure design?
Getting very mixed results on 'speaker enclosure calculators' and other general tip/hint sites. One is telling me a 4 meter reflex tube should be good and others tell me a straw sizes tube should also work fine.

I need: maximum sound quality, minimum space usage. Weird shapes is not a problem (curved tubes or so is possible)

Re: AudioTOH

Concept will 'slightly' change from original plan, to keep it simple.

- audio via 3.5-jack
- 2 speakers
- fancy speaker housing
- amplifier
- stepup to 5V #moarpower
- microusb port for #moarpower and charging
- invisible touch buttons for various functions
- borrow diptoh software
- maybe external speaker connectors #extremepower
