N900 firmware download location
 

Hi,

I have a n900 on the way... gonna see what happens w. a T-Mobile Mifi SIM card in it.

So I assume I'll need to update/reflash my new device. And because of Nokia's changes, it's a little hard to tell where to get the reflash tool and Firmware images.

I've downloaded the firmware from multiple locations, and the checksums look OK. I *think* I have the "real thing". And I own/operate my own server. I have 1TB transfer/month available to me, and I'm already hosting the firmware files for the n800 and n810. I have now added the n900 ones:

Those of you with known good firmware images from Nokia, can you please generate a sha1 and then look at the sha1_sums.txt file that I supply? I'm pretty confident that I've picked up good bits, but it's always good to be cautious.

I recently flashed one of my N900 with the combined image I downloaded here:

It's just my testing device so I can't say much more than "it works". I can provide the sha1sum in the evening (GMT).
For some reason I had to download the file like five times though because it always ended prematurely. No error, no stall, it was just not transmitted completely. I usually don't have these problems with my ISP.

You SHA checksums match mine (which I know to be good :). I only checked the firmware images (.bin), not the .exe's and stuff.

Thanks for keeping the images there. We need as many backups as possible :)

PS: what happened with the option to disable smilies? or am I blind?

Thanks, I've grabbed a copy. Before I put it up for general download, it'd be nice to know that it has a trustworthy lineage. I'm going to hold off and see if anybody else can independently verify its contents.

Can someone please remind me (again) what this image is? The latest I have is 20.2010.36-2, same as what vandys is hosting. Downloaded from Nokia while I could. My SHA matches, BTW:

PR 1.3.1. It was never published in maemo.org, but on some Nokia server (for OTA update).

That's good to know, as I had never run into it anywhere else. Do you still have a copy? Can you generate an sha1 for it? Then I'll put it up for downloads as well.

Please, bear in mind that I have seen at least 2 different signatures for the PR1.3 1 COMBINED image.

I have been using one which I obtained over 1 year ago from Nokia with no problem. I will check the signature and post it later.

This has always worked for me. All the instructions are linked here. Notice that to minimize potential issues you will need a 32 bit Windows or Linux box. Also bear in mind that there are 3 different flashers. One for Windows, one for Debian-like Linux systems (like Ubuntu), and another one for different Linux systems.

In the instructions above I was using the PR1.3.1 combined image, but you should probably just flash the PR1.3 image from vandys in the first post, then update to PR1.3.1 using Application Manager.

Also, if you need to flash combined and vanilla, some people report best results by flashing combined, then vanilla, and then combined (again).

Hey I'm looking for that PR1.3.1 combined image, looks like all the old mirrors are down, if anyone on here has it and could upload it somewhere that would be awesome, but I'd be happy enough if someone could just send me the file. My email is my username at gmail.
