Browser changes in update 10
Hi,
I'm facing a web browser weird behaviour since update 10. I'm a Pocket user, and here is how I used Pocket before update 10 : 1. Open the Pocket web page 2. Click on a link 3. If the link is opened in a new tab, once read, close the tab -> got back to the Pocket page 4. Mark the link as "read". Since update 10, this process is not possible anymore because the browser seems to free the tabs which are not selected. So, in step 3, when I close my link tab and get back to Pocket, the browser refreshes the page and this is not good for Pocket which never detects a link has been opened and read. Hope, I'm clear enough to get understood :D Would like to know if there is another way to proceed? or to prevent unselected tabs to be freed? Thanks. |

Maybe an android browser?

Re: Browser changes in update 10
Probably yes Dave, but I'm trying as much as possible to not use Android apps. But I'd better directly run the Android Pocket app.

Re: Browser changes in update 10
Perhaps you could try Webcat browser? It's native.

Re: Browser changes in update 10
Or Web Pirate. Neither of them unloads tabs.

Re: Browser changes in update 10
I think what we really need is lobby Jolla to not reload tabs in their stock brovser. It worked just fine before without reloading, there was no need to change that. This is not the fist time I read people complainng about it.

Until this is fixed I will try to use alternative browsers like Webcat or just have less tabs open in the default browser. (Although I have seen unloading occur even with only two tabs) |
Re: Browser changes in update 10
Web Pirate is the best browser on sailfish

Re: Browser changes in update 10
set your overcommit ratio higher than 50, that solved the problem for me. i set it to 80 and don't have this problem anymore.
here is how to: https://together.jolla.com/question/...t_ratio-value/ i put it in a startup script, so that it's persistent after reboots. also, open apps don't get killed so aggressive. |

Could you please explain how you setup your startup script. Thanks for the help. |

You can find how to create a custom startup script here in step 6: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=92449 of course in step 6.1 you need another content in the file and maybe different filenames, but it should be really easy to adapt. |
Re: Browser changes in update 10
Yes, really easy to adapt, perfect, and thanks a lot for the help.
