[Question Answered] Hard Reset N900
I've receive many responses on this topic and what troubles me is that they all direct me to the same link or threads. I understand Maemo is a thing of the past but I can't help my desire to learn more. I'm not a experience programer or master hacker, actually the only thing I want to do is learn the functions of my phone. Yes- I do own a better phone (Samsung Galaxy s4) but it doesn't give me the same joy of my n900.
So to get to the point. I would like an active tutorial on how to factory reset my N900. Bare in mind that everything on this thread related to the topic is completely outdated or dis-connected. Most of the supporting links to packages* are no longer accessible. I for one am willing to open a drop box to support this threads. Situation: I bought my n900 in 2010 but got deployed. Sadly while leaving my phone in the care of my parents, both the lcd and pressure screen were cracked. Early this year I ordered both replacement screens (Jan 16, 2015). At the moment im reading the kindle ebook of The Linux Command Line to get some clue on how X Terminal works. I've made an AIM contact so ppl can contact me on suggestion N900_Ovide@aim.com you can also PM |

flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin -f when its done switch off the device by pulling of the battery bear in mind the device should not boot or you need to start over again then flash rootfs by flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R thats it maybe you need to change the filenames according to your downloaded files also you should copy both files to c/program files/maemo/flasher3.5 before flashing easy as pie ! cheers |
Re: [Question Answered] Hard Reset N900
wikis should be corrected or newbies will keep getting confused

Re: [Question Answered] Hard Reset N900
I can't seem to get eMMC to flash anyone have any idea what the issue is? rootfs flashes with no problem.
|
Re: [Question Answered] Hard Reset N900
A bit more info, ouput, problem explaining would be helpful for anyone wanting to help you. Could be everything. Maybe a broken download?
|
Re: [Question Answered] Hard Reset N900
My issue is that eMMC doesn't want to flash. I have the right file. Both files names are the same and have been copied to the right directories. When I plug in the device the usb icon pops up along with the nokia logo. After a few seconds the usb icon fades and a yellow LED light comes on. The nokia logo is the only thing that remains.

Re: [Question Answered] Hard Reset N900
Are you following the guide on wiki (freemangordon linked to) and do as nokiabot explained?
Following that should go the right way. When you rootfs works and emmc not, what are the differences? Do you keep holding 'u'? Do you pull battery and insert with with 'u' pressed after starting command on PC? What is ghe output in console? And so on .... |
Re: [Question Answered] Hard Reset N900
Yes I'm hold down the "u" key. One thing I notice is when you flash the firmware files the nokia's golden long only appears when it's 'erasing'. When the eMMC files are entered into the maemo-flasher w/ 'U' pressed down the nokia logo appear along with the usb icon for a second. Then for some reason the usb icon fades away and the yellow light appears.
Maybe I should list my steps? |

Together with the output of the terminal you run flasher on PC. |
Re: [Question Answered] Hard Reset N900
As I explained elsewhere, including in the reply to avoide's PM, I had exactly the same problem for over a year. I followed all the steps correctly, had the correct image, but it still did not work. On two different machines in three different OSes. Then I bought a new PC and it worked right away. How many machines have you tried it on?

Re: [Question Answered] Hard Reset N900
Both my HP notebook Window 7 and my Compaq desktop Windows XP.
My last hop is probably going to be a MAC >_> (I HATE MAC) ha-ha. |
Re: [Question Answered] Hard Reset N900
leave thatemmc alone as it really does not have any use just format it.
|
Re: [Question Answered] Hard Reset N900
That is exactly what I would like to confirm after having seen the flasher output!
My spare device also did not finish eMMC flashing but at least it formatted the device, so I could flash rootfs. And everything was fine (no need for any contents of eMMC image). |

Re: [Question Answered] Hard Reset N900
Sure the links are mostly dead on the Wikis, but the instructions are still ample and detailed. If you guys have a x64 bit Windows you will have to download libusb-win32 and install N900's Update Mode drivers through it.

Re: [Question Answered] Hard Reset N900
I think since we have 0xFFFF, it should also be ported to all other OSes or else I don't really see much use of it.
