WiFi connectivity issue ?!?
I wiped my device clean via phone and reinstalled the software via Nokiasuite, and now have an issue with my wifi connection.
Its seems as though its not working 1 in 20 chance a webpage opens (but weather, twitter, facebook feeds refresh). The connections is strong. At first I thought I fried my wifi due to some overclock play but I guess not. Conky shows that download speeds are 0.1-0.7kbs. Do I need to flash the phone the normal way for fix this? Cheers mrk |
Re: WiFi connectivity issue ?!?
reboot helps?
|
Re: WiFi connectivity issue ?!?
Reboot doesnt help. I changed the housing to see if that helped, but no.
When I change connections from one to the other, I get a page to load when the connection is happening but then its stops. It took like 2h for skype to connect on wifi, even longer for some other apps. |
Re: WiFi connectivity issue ?!?
Just a simple suggestion?:)

Re: WiFi connectivity issue ?!?
It seems like a similar issue I had a few months back after a flash. I'm not sure what could have triggered it, but, definitely one AP wouldn't work at all which was fine with other phones (even another N9). I didn't mind it back then as that was not the default connection I use to connect to internet. After a recent flash, when I tried with the same AP, that was totally fine the problem was rectified.
Would a 'restore settings'help? Not sure. |
Re: WiFi connectivity issue ?!?
I tried everything except a true pc flash. Was kinda hoping not to do that but looks like I might not have a choice.

Re: WiFi connectivity issue ?!?
Try to set wi-fi power saving to medium. It always helped me for slow connection.
|
Re: WiFi connectivity issue ?!?
Tried that too, ehh. Gonna have to reflash it again :(

I have similar problems where the connection is very slow for most of the websites. And some sites(google, YouTube, etc) work fine.
So what i do as a workaround is open a terminal and ping google.com and let it run in the background, then everything works fine. |
Re: WiFi connectivity issue ?!?
I also cant download maps for drive, or check out warehouse for example. Need to do everything on my carriers connection. The only thing I can do on my wifi is update feeds and catch a gps signal faster :P

Re: WiFi connectivity issue ?!?
Does it make any difference what wifi network you're using? Home, work, library, coffee shop, stolen ^B^B^B^B^B^B borrowed neighbor's?

No it doesnt matter whose wifi Im using, its the same. Doesnt matter if its 2.4ghz or 5. I might get a brief increase in speed when changing networks. Enough to open a website, or get to the store menu. Everything was working fine on my connection. Then one day when I reset my phone, overclocked it, and the last app I installed was tweetian. Since then, hasnt been working. I reset the device, I wiped it clean, same issue. |
Have you tried the utility 'Restart WiFi' from openrepos? It's more of a bandage than a cure, but it's more convenient than restarting phone or opening a terminal and remembering the correct initctl commands.
|
Re: WiFi connectivity issue ?!?
Yes I tried and no results.
I used the command quite often and remember it by now :P /sbin/initctl restart xsession/icd2 |
Re: WiFi connectivity issue ?!?
Hi.
Did you check your /var/log/syslog when connecting to wifi networks? That may give you some clues... Regards. |
Re: WiFi connectivity issue ?!?
When my wifi works for one or two pages everythings normal, nothing special written. But when it doesnt, theres something like this which I dont understand what it means:
Mar 5 12:27:54 (2015) tracker-extract[9750] : GLIB MESSAGE Tracker - Setting up monitor for changes to config file: '/home/user/.config/tracker-extract.cfg Mar 5 12:27:54 (2015) tracker-extract[9750]: GLIB MESSAGE Tracker - loading defaults into GKeyFile... What does that mean ?? |
Re: WiFi connectivity issue ?!?
Hi.
These messages are related to the 'tracker', which is a process in the device taking care of modifications in the filesystem, like new pictures or videos captured with the camera. I don't think it is related to your connectivity problem, but maybe someone here can add more light.... Regards. |
Re: WiFi connectivity issue ?!?
Hi.
I forgot another question: Are you using some kind of special cyphering protocol for WiFi? Or just plain WPA with a passphrase? I can recall that PAP-CHAP schemas for WPA-Enterprise and Certificate-Authorities are somehow tricky to configure. Regards. |
Re: WiFi connectivity issue ?!?
Just a plain WPA with a password. I never had an issue before, it just happened one day and it doesn't want to go back ;)
The last thing I installed was tweetian then wifi stopped working correctly. |
Re: WiFi connectivity issue ?!?
Hi.
This is an extract from my syslog file for a regular connection to wlan (with WPA): Code:
Mar 18 16:22:12 (2015) wlancond[1037]: Scan issued 1.- Issue a wifi scan. 2.- Associate to BSSID 00:26:5a:b5:49:61 3.- Request address/parameters via dhcp. Hope this helps. Regards. |
Re: WiFi connectivity issue ?!?
Thanks a lot but I still don't know how to fix this issue :(
