Camera phone competition March 2015:"Retro"

Finally, the new theme has come although a bit later than expected. It's retro. Here's what pichlo and chenliangchen have come up with:

"March's new theme will be "retro". Retro derives from the Latin prefix retro, meaning "backwards, or in past times". It could be anything which is part of your memory, as well as "retro style" - new things that display characteristics of the past.
If it sounds rather vague then that is deliberate, to give the competitors a bit of freedom. Anything goes, as long as it is or looks "retro"."

The rules:
Photos must be taken during this month
Photos must be taken by the posting member
Photos must be taken with a camera phone
Users post only one photo per entry
Users can change the entry only once
Users must name the phone they used
(so I could include it for voting and such)
Last three days of this month are for voting

Oh, just a few days ago a local national croatian television started emitting a new show called Crno-bijeli svijet. (Black and White world, it's from an older famous song by Prljavo Kazalište)
It goes back to the 80's and it's really a great insight in to what my parents were doing thirty years ago as they were growing up.
Many teenagers haven't even heard about gramophone records or cassette decks and I'm glad that we are having a resurgence in the former.
It's cool to go back to your roots but vinyl was always around and it will stick around for a long time I think and you don't need the internet for that. :)

Jesus HtheB, you could start a museum right now! :D
And this collection of 600 old cameras would be really great for a camera museum.

we got a Ringer here!...
Crap...
you've been on the edge of your seat for years...
finger on the submit button...
just waiting for the day someone announced a Retro theme...
haven't you HtheB?
:D

Bloody hell I feel like I've showed up to a knife fight with a plastic spork.

That's a lovely set of systems you got there fella! Nice to see another collector on here too.

If I still had my display case I might be tempted to offer a little competition, but alas my consoles are all boxed up for now, and can't take any phone pics of them :( I will have to share my out dated room of doom gallery for now.

I'll have an entry this month, as I bought something special a few weeks age.

Aren't camera phone competition threads for current month always sticky?
I see that this month thread is not sticky anymore.

Half-Life_4_Life 2015-03-13 22:33

Re: Camera phone competition March 2015:"Retro"

I've agreed with Jalyst that the mods won't sticky the threads anymore because it's just unnecessary because you can still see the last two competitions in the General forum.
I don't know who stickied the thread but they can do what they want with the sticky. It's not important for me anymore. Now I have to beat HtheB's record...

Re: Camera phone competition March 2015:"Retro"

Seriously, I wanted to picture my old nokia 8310 plus the E61i plus the 6630 but HtheB just killed the topic! I was like  very impressive!
PS: And it's the first camera competition I intend to participate!! :( :o :D :) ;) Well done!!!

valiant29 2015-03-14 00:16

Re: Camera phone competition March 2015:"Retro"

@Boemien Yea indeed. Most of us got some number of retro devices but i guess not comparable to the number of retro devices HtheB posted.
Still i think there is life left in this competition as it depends on the kind of retro devices posted too. (old radio?telephone?etc?)

And remember that it isn't only about eletronic devices. How about: fashion, cars, sunglasses, hair styles and so on.;)

I hope others don't get too scared by HtheB's collections, it's eventually a camera competition so the picture itself can take credit as well. :)

Hi, can the photos be edited with Photoshop or other software or must be edited in the camera phone?

I think the latter, but I am not sure. Either way, save the original, and show the original alongside the edited version...

Thank you. Best wishes.

Re: Camera phone competition March 2015:"Retro"

You are only allowed to edit the photo in the phone. But please, don't destroy the photo by editing it too much.

Re: Camera phone competition March 2015:"Retro"

A lamp hanging in my office's staircase. Building is pre-WWII, has some unclear Nazi episodes in history and telephony installation so old and convoluted, that lately telco repairmen decided to circumvent it and lay new cables (without touching old ones, still somewhat working) -- no one could understand how the thing works ;)

http://lemur.hg.pl/i/p/1q5hunc.jpeg

I don't think the lamp is original (haven't checked though), but somehow fits the style.

Phone is N9, photos taken with HDRCamera, so unfortunately no EXIFs again :/ Below I attach bracket three as originals.

I'll go with this hand-crank water pump. (This one is a feature at my parent's house; it's handy if the power should go out and you need a drink. :) )

Taken on the 22nd with an HTC One (M8).

Sadly nokiabot...
In the west most people have nooooo idea ..
Water comes pressurized from a tap with a turn of the wrist.. hot or cold on demand. Or utilizing the best in wasteful technology...the equiv. in (what is it again?) energy wasted to produce 1 plastic bottle is what...1000 glasses of purified water?....allll for 1 plastic bottle of water.
food is grown, killed, prepared, precooked and packaged..
so it means many many many people have no idea how to grow their own food..or prepare it even.
It makes for a dependent population.
I've had the great education of being raised and living on a farm and the luxury of living in megalopoli and....
even back in the day ...
I remember meeting many even then...
who thought milk came from a carton...
sad..but ..
It is the way of things...
Nowaday....well ...we are talking multiple-generational-f'-d upped-ed-ness frankly.
I'm not blanket statementing everyone in the west...
but I am most certainly talking of the majority of the population.
If food stopped being shipped anywhere here longer than 3 days consecutively it means empty stores and a very scared population.
And the beginnings of social breakdown.
The warehousing systems here aren't meant for stockpiling.
Just the way things have become....

Wanted to enter this month's competition with some of my rare retro Nokia device like this one, but since HtheB completely overwhelmed (ruined:D) anything electronic, so here is this one:

http://www.liangchenchen.com/wp-cont...d-p1020652.jpg

Nothing modern, nothing electronical, perhaps it was the same view 100 years ago?

Took with Panasonic CM1, I used built-in retro style filter, so no post editing.

It is very tempting to vote for HtheB's electronics collection but, based on the picture composition and the sentimental value, my vote goes to:

3. Copernicus.
