To send file from 770 2 PC:
Turn on PC, BT ready, right click BT, tap receive a File (waiting...)
Turn on 770, Tap and hold on to the file, send>Via BT (searching....), highlight the receiving PC..........transfer done.

To receive file, similar steps. Post if questions.

Re: send files with bluetooth

I tap on a file and I only see a send via email. not a BT. Do I need anything here? anything to install maybe?

If I want to send a file from pc to 770 how can I make the 770 receive the file? my pc says that the receiving device did not respont (I didn't get any message on my 770 to accept it)

The above works for 2007HE. For 2006 OS (standard) use these steps:
1. Connect to PC
1a. Ensure BT on PC is running properly and in discover mode.
1b. On 770, tap Tools->Control Panel->Phone and select your PC as the phone.
1c. Exit.

2. Transfer files (from 770 to PC).
2a. Start filemanager, scroll the directory list on left side of FM, select a 770 directory.
2b. Select a file on 770 on the right side of the FM.
2c. Select Edit->Copy.
2d. Scroll to bottom of directory list on left side of FM, select your BT device name (the PC).
2e. Select Edit->Paste.

2. Transfer files (from PC to 770).

2b. Select a file from the file list on the right side of the FM.
2c. Select Edit->Copy.

2d. Select Edit->Paste.

770 BT will never be in discover mode using 2006 OS (are there scripts or hacks to change this? I'm not sure.) So you must initiate everything through the 770. See my other post about BT file transfers.

For the 2007HE OS, things are easier and the 770 bluetooth is discoverable.

BT is on and in discover mode on my pc. I am pairing from my 770 with PC and I enter the passcode. now the 770 says "Selected phone does not have services that can be used. Select another phone" :confused: :confused:

On your PC: What BT device are you using? And what BT device driver? Is there some software app with your BT that lets you select which services to provide?

And on the subsequent post, you mention that the 770 cannot be made discoverable. Well, it is different on a 2007He, mine is easily discovered by the PC, as a matter of fact, when tapping the BT icon on my 770 running 2007He, on the tool bar on top of the screen, it allows one to toggle discover on or off. this is when running 2007He. while on the 2006OS the bt icon turns on GPS/keyboard selection. Interesting, I have not try to use copy/paste for file transfer, I will try next time. I used to use USB cable to do file transfer. Not any more, getting lazy, I just use the BT and works fine with me.:) and the BT send/receive can be initiated from either the PC or the 770.

Humbly disagree. it can be initiated from either ends, the PC or the 770/2007He. I am doing it many times everyday. I carried my 770 in my pocket and update files as the day goes on. and at the beginning of the days, i dl/ul with PC at home and before leaving work at the end of the days, i dl/ul with PC at work. PC at works is NOT the same PC at home. both PC are win XP Home using a BT USB adapter.:)

You need to have DUN or something like that on your PC in order for the 770 to pair it as a phone.

Go maemo.org/downloads/communication/bT xfer, I do not know how to make it work. It does install on 770/2006OS without problems.

OK, quite right, I just booted in 2007HE mode and sure enough the BT is much better presented in that OS. Makes one want the official upgrade all the more! I'm editing my previous posts to make clear they're for the 2006 OS.

As a matter of fact, i do not know how to do it on 2006OS. I tried the BTxfer in the past, did not get any where. I like your way of copy/paste, only if I can make my PC paired w my 770. I think pairing a PC w a 770, you need some DUN thing in the PC, o/w they refuse to pair.

I don't think so. I'm far from an expert on this stuff, but I can transfer files both ways between my 770 (2006 OS) and PC using the BT file transfer service. DUN (Dial Up Network) is associated with internet access, right? My PC doesn't use that.

BTW, in 2007HE I couldn't figure out how to access my PC from the 770. In File Manager it doesn't list the 'phone' device selected, unlike the 2006 OS. And in 2007HE in Control Panel it wouldn't let me select the PC BT as the 'phone', again unlike 2006 OS. Yes, the PC BT name shows up in the Control Panel->Bluetooth along with my celll phone, but how to make the PC show up in the File Manager?

I think a DUN thing "allow" one to pair with the 770 by selecting an "allow" service, which allows one to pair with the 770, o/w "no allowable service, pairing fail" something like that. I was NOT able to pair my PC with 2006OS, could you be kind enough to list your installed software on your 2006OS, and I will then try?

Here are my installed sw on 770/2006OS:

becomeroot_______0.1-2
btxfer____________0.1-1
canola____________1.01-1indt8
flite______________1.3
gizmo-project______3.1.0.76
gnumeric__________1.7.0-1indt3
gpe-calendar,contacts,filemanager,icons,timesheet,todo
leafpad____________0.89-2indt1
lib.......................
maemo-bt-plugin___0.6.1-1
maemo-mapper____1.3.5
maemo-periodic____1.0-1
mediacenter_______1.5
mediastreamer_____1.2-12
minimo___________0.20.1
mplayer__________1.0rc1-mamo.18n770
openssh-client
openssh-server
osso-xterm
proj
python2.5-runtime
vncviewer
xournal

I just tired, I cannot make the PC to show up in the file manager either.

To access the PC from the 770/2007He or the other way round, at least for the purpose of file transfer, once one initiated the transfer, the other end will respond automatically. On the PC, click the file>send to BT>hi lite 770 (searching....), your 770 should respond automatically; or vice versa. Of course, one has enable both the 770 or the PC discoverable.

Just want to grant the search function and this post its credits. I just sent a selfmade mp3 ringtone unto my BT mobile. Worked with my N800 perfectly, thanks :)

Hi,

great great great. It works. Really works on 2006OS.
On pairing up N770 with PC I can see my PC name in files folder on N770.
Than I select a file, select edit and finally select move (NOT COPY)
and move to my PC name.
It works.
On PC b luetooth usb dongle (BlueSoleil driver).
Thanks.
Not need for usb cable file transfer any more.

Darius
