[Council] Re-Announcement of the Q2 2015 Community Council Election
Dear friends and Maemoans, as it happens we did not get enough confirmed candidates in the set nomination period, so according to the Council Election Rules we need to extend the nomination period by 4 weeks.
This will push all dates one month to future. The new schedule of the voting is as follows:

Can you please add to the wiki Q2 2015 election page also a link to the currently valid election process (including requirements for candidates, etc.)?
It will work as a clear declaration that "this round we play by these rules", and also will reduce the feeling that council is like a private circle for only those in the know. |

For myself...I do wish they had some of their probs sorted ...like spare batts. etc...
and the fact that there wasn't any availability for Canadian purchases... Won't offer it to Canadians?..well...too bloody bad for them... since I would have been lining up with everyone else and handing over my money for one ... Best sitch is if some common grounds can be found to cement relations with the "fishy os" (:D) peoples and their devices/ os ...and maemo's... would be for the best. Otherwise things won't get better with inter-forum relations...that is a certainty. Worst case is...they aren't interested in anything other than their little corner of the forum... They won't be here long... Especially if no new device comes out they'll be gone that much sooner to the next flavour-of-the-week device and platform and it'll get that much quieter around here... As long as the invited guests behave...it's all cool.. |

Post from a few days ago...
Updated is now 6... Guys... I'm sorry... I really wanted to be a candidate... really. But at this moment I'm just now dealing with the fact of my 10 year relationship going down the toilet with my significant other absolutely out of the blue informed me roughly 3 days ago that "we are through" . I haven't eaten since then.. and am doing considerably well on the exterior compared to the wreck I am inside. My chest feels like it has been ripped out. My entire world has been thrown upside down... and it really makes me want to chew a bullet...and I'm trying really hard to find a reason not to right now. the upset, grief, and turmoil I am at this moment going through. I don't think for this quarter I would be a fit candidate... Next quarter or half perhaps... If I make it that far.. Yesterday... Got a freakin' grip I'm back in the candidacy race... don't scratch me off just yet. I'm stickin' it out ... If I get in ...it'll help keep me sane :D I got through to my lady... and she and I are going to do some couples counseling... it's either that or it is carving up our life and I don't think she wants to end things with 1/2 a fantastic life...when working through stuff means she has 100% a fantastic life. Ok enough of my bloody problems. let's get back to this business of the elections... :) Update: As far as my lady and I ...we are working at it...hopefully she sees the value in "us". So we'll see. Gonna clean up my woeful mess a few posts back here.. it's consuming valuable post space All my good friends support here I highly highly appreciate.. and thank you so much. Normally.... there just aren't the words in any language to convey my overwhelming affection for the lot of you. And the care expressed by you most certainly refills a chunk of my ripped out chest. :) |

Fun fact:
118* people voted in the referendum, but only 90* in council election. * incl. 3 empty ballots each As a reminder: empty ballots do not count at all. "Killing" your ballot intentionally has no effect on the result (as opposed to most political elections). Unfortunately, with our election system, there's no other way to abstain though, afaik. But what do those numbers tell us? |

It might be interesting to see how those 90 compare to the TamO general user profile. I mean, we have what? 6000 members? How many of them logged in in the past 12 months? I do not have any hard data nor do I know how to obtain it but my impression is that I keep seeing posts from the same 50-odd people, plus an odd post from a new member who cannot vote anyway.

In the Council election you'd need to put 7 people in preferred order. In the Referendum just a simple Yes/No question. I am pretty sure the latter is an easier choice to make immediately, the former might taks so much thinking it actually is not getting finished due to something else coming to distract you while thinking about it... and then forgetting to finalize it. |

Where did my earlier post go? I guess into the Jolla nirvana ... But all said already: number of voters is good and stable. --edit I meant absolute numbers in post two above. Seeing them relative looks we have a small stable core of community only. |
