N9 - battery goes fast empty
Beginning with the battery they was drain so fast.
I`ve replaced the battery with a new one. The same story and I think the new one was broken / bad quality. Order a new one and replaced it. The same story. Than I observate the phone when it`s go so fast down / drain and I see there is a service in the background running it call`s "messageserver" with 91% CPU usage. The other problem is to activate the developer modus (to get a console/shell) I get a message there are some dependences with the "developer-mode" and I can`t activate. Is there any other possibility to get an shell ? How I can fixed the problem with the fast battery drain respective with the high CPU usage comming from "messageserver" (can be) ? |
Search in forum developer-mode.
Than install N9QTweak and use BME reset = option B |
Re: N9 - battery goes fast empty
OK, developer-mode is more a secondarily issue.
My main issue is the battery and now I can say the "messageserver" service is 100% the problem. For what is this service responsible and how can I preventive this problem ? The last chance what I see is to reset the complete smartpohne but this means a lot of work for me (it`s the phone from my wife). |
Re: N9 - battery goes fast empty
Ok. Messageserver can be chat or mail.
Have you a lot of mailaccounts that are checking new mails every 10 minutes? Do you have problems with checking mails on one of these accounts? What chat-accounts do you use? |
Re: N9 - battery goes fast empty
Yes, there are two mail account`s installed.
Yes, sometimes there are hanging with the mail check (T-Com, POP3 account). Chat accounts are Jabber and WhatsApp. Normally they running very well. Another problem is to install "n9repomirror_0.7.1". Failure is "Installation unsuccessfully". I don know why. Do you have any idea ? I`ve installed now at first the version 0.6. No problem. After this the updatemanger pop up and has informed me a new version of n9repomirror is now available. I try it but the same story. Failure ! Nevertheless I can activate now the developer-mode, what I think in the first step (but the required packages are not fully installed). Can be there are some dependences there are not fulfilled. |
Re: N9 - battery goes fast empty
Yes. I have the same problem. Go with the Browser to openrepos.net, search N9RepoMirror and donwload the old version 0.6. Then install that. 0.6 is working
|
Re: N9 - battery goes fast empty
This is what I`ve done and you are right: It`s working but after this installation when I want to activate the developer-mode the installation of the required packages won`t be fully installed.
New Repos are installed but the developer mode dosn`t work. It`s a one way ! |
Re: N9 - battery goes fast empty
Facebook also can be the problem. Or a big file on mail or chat that the N9 try to download?
|
Re: N9 - battery goes fast empty
I don`t use Facebook !
I will check the mail client and the messanger services. Developer-mode dosn`t run ! |
Re: N9 - battery goes fast empty
First install N9Reppomirror (the old version).
Then restart N9 Then install developer-mode have to work |
Re: N9 - battery goes fast empty
@chilango
Nope, not yet. package 0.6 only valid for global PR1.3 001 firmware. |
Re: N9 - battery goes fast empty
0.6 is working for me (PR1.3 006)
i didnt can install or update to 0.7.1 |
Re: N9 - battery goes fast empty
This is what I`ve done and it`s dosn`t work !
|
Re: N9 - battery goes fast empty
OK, version 0.6 is to be installed and I think it`s workin.
Version 0.7.1 is not able to install. Ergo: Developer-mode dosn`t work ! The main problem with the battery is still existing ! In the moment I`m very unhappy with the N9. Sorry. |
Re: N9 - battery goes fast empty
Maybe the N9 is not for you the right phone.
If you like a phone that simple work, buy an IPhone. The community here is very happy why even Nokia had stopped all support for the N9, the community here helps to still alove the N9. Use the search option here in Forum and you will find a lot of information. But we are not Big Daddy to take your Hand and lead you in the dark jungle Auf Deutsch. If 0.6 is installed and you made an restart, developer-mode can be installed. Also in Openrepos you can install some terminal-apps |
Re: N9 - battery goes fast empty
And my n9 still on his deep sleep, won't boot at all, miss that good old days

Re: N9 - battery goes fast empty
Hey chilango,
maybe the N9 is not the right one. But believe me: I`m a big fan of open sources and I like the N9. Before I had the N900 and I like it too. I have all the respect of this world for the community and what they affords. Thans a lot therefore. I`m working at home with Debian GNU/Linux since more than ten years and I know how difficult can be open sources in relation with some of hardware :-) The problem in this case is so often the time what is missing. We talk about the smartphone from my wife and can be you know the problem when the "higher instance" has an dependence to this thinks like WhatsApp ... and it`s dosen`t work. The domestic bliss is hanging crooked (Der Haussegen hängt schief :-) !). It`s not my imagination that anybody takes my hand ... THX for the tip with the terminal. I`ve done this before I`ve try to activate the developer-mode. I`ve also try to install the MC but there are some dependences (normally can not be) and the installation is apparently usuccessful. I don`t know what`s happened ! For clarification: The big problems are on the N9 from my wife. On my N9 I`ve only the misstakes regarding the developer-mode. The rest of the hardware and the OS it`s working very well. Thanks a lot to the community and also for all the participant here. |
Re: N9 - battery goes fast empty
The N9 is 'famous' for its non-trustees regarding messages and also contacts. Could it also be tracker problem?
chilango gave the right hints. Now it is up to you to keep it alive. I know how hard this may get when it belongs to the other half. Try to cut it down. Disable a few accounts and check and check and check ... Sorry to be no more helpful. lsof -p $(pidof messageserver) revealed it opens accounts.db and qmailstore.db under qmf so I guess (really do not know) that it is problem of mail possibly /home is full what does df -h say? and so on ... ;) |
Re: N9 - battery goes fast empty
/home is not full. The rest of the storage is also OK.
What is strange is the eMail account. When I want to delete some eMails than is the system (only the eMail client) hanging up (running and running => Message: The application doesent react. Do you want to cloe Yes/No ?). I will check the other things step by step when it`s available :-) |
Re: N9 - battery goes fast empty
Then I think you found the culprit already. ;)
how much mail accounts ? pop or imap ? disable one-by-one from accounts applet, maybe 'killall fenix' or reboot, ... |
Re: N9 - battery goes fast empty
Two eMail POP3 accounts are existing (T-COM).
The problem here is by POP3: Sharing with other devices e.g. Laptop. I don`t like POP. For my account I use IMAP and I `ve no trouble :-) I offer my wife the same but she was not realy interested :-(. I will check this option. |
Re: N9 - battery goes fast empty
Dont offer. You made more problem than you solve.
Simply configure IMAP. Normally our better halfs are happy when it works. Dont ever explain. She can receive and send Mail, more she didnt have to know ;) |
Re: N9 - battery goes fast empty
Hey, I`ve found the failure.
The eMail accounts are the problem. THX for your support here. |
Re: N9 - battery goes fast empty
Good for you. Could you be a bit more verbose, please? (for others with same/similar prob)
