installation file corrupted

When ever I try to install themes I receive an error message in Application manager about the installation file being corrupt. Please help.

Re: installation file corrupted

I also get this error while trying to install a few applications such as canola, kagu, media box. It seems like it only does it with files > 5mb. Like others are saying its probably the servers overloaded. Sucks! I just got my n800 and i was dying to install a media player to check out!

But still loving my n800 and all the user support is great!

Re: installation file corrupted

I keep getting this too, it's very frustrating. I even got it at 5am, when there wasn't any lag on the servers, so it seems to be more than just servers being overloaded.

Re: installation file corrupted

Just to narrow it down a bit, all of the applications that won't install for me use python, and the corruption appears to come when they install the python 2.5 as a prerequisite. Python won't install standalone either. But.. Python itself is 5.2mb (and is what makes these other apps over 5mb since they are installing python as a prereq). I'm beginning to doubt that the problem is with the server being overloaded.

Re: installation file corrupted

I got the same with any installation over 5 megs:
-Gnumeric
-Python runtime
-Quetoo
-UKMP
I live in Poland, so I should be downloading while most ot you guys are in bed and offline... still, doesn't work. :(
I guess we just gotta wait a bit.

Re: installation file corrupted

People, I know!!
All the installations mentionned above (except Gnumeric, which I don't understand) want to update libsqlite3-0. Now this bastard is on my "check for updates" list and won't uprgade properly (update file corrupted).
I tried the http://repository.maemo.org/extras/d...ite3-0.install file, not better.
So I say we deal with libsqlite3-0. Ideas anyone?

Re: installation file corrupted

I ran into this error message yesterday SEVERAL times while trying to install Canola2 on my N800 with OS2007. I ended up disabling ALL the repositories in the Application catalog EXCEPT for the following 3:
-Nokia Catalogue,
-http://repository.maemo.org bora free non-free
-http://repository.maemo.org/extras bora free non-free

In addition, I was in Red Pill mode.

This may be too limiting for some folks (as far as what you can install), but it helped me with Canola2.

Otherwise, I would think that the repositories are still screwed up...

Sure, pick a deb from:
http://repository.maemo.org/extras/p...e/p/python2.5/
and tell us what happens.

Re: installation file corrupted

Hello everybody,

quite easy: repository.maemo.org has a little problem. The download of the packages of python ends with:
"The service is temporarily unavailable. We are very sorry for the inconvinience it may cause."
(For example: http://repository.maemo.org/extras/p...mo.3_armel.deb, which is a prerequisite for canola2.)

Re: installation file corrupted

For me, it's the chinook extra's non-free that isn't working. Using "apt-get update" from the command line gives errors about missing files, and getting python from the command line gives errors about the file structure not being found. The repo is therefore still complely messed up.

I am using N810 with OS 2008..50 and python install is not working: Package is corrupted.

Re: installation file corrupted

Is there a way to pull the .deb files off your device for programs you have already installed? Because i have canola 2 and if i could pull it off my device i wouldn't mind putting it up on a server somewhere. And maybe we could put something together to help all of us :/

Re: installation file corrupted

Yeah, if someone could get the necessary n800 python files for os2008 that don't seem to be on the server, that'd be great too.

Hey guy-
I'm totally new here and not a huge linux guy but I was able to install UKMP without corrupt error when I had that error a moment ago. What I did was disable all my repo's including a Maemo Extra's that had no "Distribution" defined. The only repo I left enabled was the Maemo Extras with CHINOOK distribution defined.

So I had the following Repo enabled...

Catalog Name: Maemo Extras
Address: http://repostory.maemo.org/extras
Distribution: chinook
Components: free non-free

(Please notice that typo in repository above... I just discovered that repository and repostory work for some reason.. either way, it should probably be set to the correct spelling but I'm putting what I had in my config at the time.)

After that, I went in and installed Python-runtime all by itself, and then after went in and installed UKMP and it worked fine. I have not tested the program yet but all looks good.

Thanks for the info, Cybertron. I followed your instructions and python installed flawlessly.

Re: installation file corrupted

Other apps that were giving "file corrupted" errors (kagu, quiver) have also installed with out a problem.

Anyone who followed my directions please check that Flash still works in the browser... ie: go to youtube.com or something.

I'm not sure what caused it, but my flash stopped working at some point. I havent used it in a bit, so i'm not sure what did it. I've re-flashed and restored from backup and am checking as app reinstall to see what caused the problem.

Re: installation file corrupted

Got my lovely new N800 yesterday. Play.com - half the RRP! Not too shabby.

Fiirst thing I did was flash it to OS2008... then got the same problem as everyone else, 'corrupt' downloads. I thought I'd broke it for a while...

Put in this repository, and the problem went away! Canola and UKMP have installed with no problems.

That said, it didn't replicate the non-working Flash problem... YouTube was just fine, so that sounds a little more sinister...

cybertron 2007-12-24 04:18

Re: installation file corrupted

After my "reinstall" I did everything again and all is fine, so no idea why flash broke.

hi all,
i tried this meathod, but i still can't get python runtime installed. most of the way through the install i get a message 'unable to install python...'
could this have to do with the fact that my n800 ran out of battery and died part way through the python install when i was trying the install after changing the spelling of 'repository'?
any ideas? thanks.

in application manager go to 'tools' -> 'application catalog'
edit the repositories that have 'maemo' in the name and change repository to repostory in the url.

"Installation file corrupted" - Just so you know, this is caused by a repository problem that you can fix.

I backed everything up and reinstalled(reflashed firmware), then I did the fix again and had no problems. I bet if you reinstall microB it will fix itself maybe?

Wow, am I drunk or are the repos working??

xPak, I had a problem with your method, as 2007He wouldn't let me leave the box blank, but I just installed Python, so I guess the repos are up.
Huge thanks anyway.
