windows 10 nokia n900 serious problem

on windows 8.1 i cn connect n900 to laptop 8.1 win and i can use internet through pc suite... but not on windows 10..please guys suggest me a solution

Where to start...

I think there may be a handful of people who bother with win 10 here.
You'll find connecting the n900 to win xp ...even win 7 works better.

what on earth are you doing with the nokia pc suite?

I don't know what seanmcken23 (any relation with seanmcken, perchance?) uses it for but I use it for updating maps. Not that there has been any update between my last two tries spaced by about 6 months.

As others said, good luck with Windows 10. I would not touch it with a red hot poker unless totally forced to (e.g. at work) but IIRC, Windows 8 had a compatibility mode that allowed to pretend for specified applications that they were running on an earlier version of Windows. Perhaps Windows 10 has that too? Worth a try...

Hmm. Step 1, "install latest Nokia Suite". Wrong already. The newest Nokia Suite that worked for me was 3.8. That was about 1½-2 years ago when the latest was 10.something. I have no idea what the latest is now.

I'm having a hard time being serious about this serious problem....

just grab deb or buntu cram it on a usb flash drive...
stick it up the arse of that win 10 ..
restart your computer...
boot into linux...
connect your n900...
serious problem solved ...

it won't impact your win 10...
or touch your computer in any way....
and you'll have the convenience of an easier solution whenever you need it.

Configure the phone to use usb lan.
Connect the phone with usb pc suite mode.
Get kernel power and iptables for the N900.
Activate forwarding and make your iptable rules. Alternatively use genwall.

If you have driver issues with win10 and getting a serial port or what ever instead of a rndis (network device) you need to tweak.

Here something that could be a great help:

Solution 2: If you have control over the RNDIS device and it runs Linux (i.e. BeagleBone), you can tweak the driver to get along with Windows better. For example, if you have a 3.16 kernel or newer, you can setup your gadget using configfs and include os descriptors. This is actually what I ended up doing for my case. You can find my fully documented script here. The key was specifying the compatible and subcompatible ids so that it matches "USB\MS_COMP_RNDIS&MS_SUBCOMP_5162001" in rndiscmp.inf. This causes the Microsoft RNDIS 6.0 driver to be installed for this device. With this driver, I have not seen the same lockup as I have with the 5.1 (Acer) driver. I also changed the vendor and product ids so that it wouldn't match the "Acer" driver.

Solution 3: If the RNDIS 5.1 (Acer) driver is causing problems and you can't modify the remote device, then you can reboot into a mode that allows you to install unsigned drivers. The you can install this unsigned linux.inf file. However, if you reboot without enabling unsigned drivers again, Windows will not load the driver anymore. For a more permanent solution, you could self-sign that .inf file.

Solution 4: This one is for Microsoft (and better than the suggestion below)... Add "USB\Class_02&SubClass_02&Prot_FF" to rndiscmp.inf.

problem is i want to use n900 as modem and ive used it on windows 8.1 and it works well, it shares internet of my sim card to use on laptop.. but when i try the same on win 10 it just wont happen it wot connect at all.. plz guys help

Did you consider using 'qtmobilehotspot' application on your N900. It offers weakly secured wifi, but also networking via USB connection.

Device manager?? Do you see a modem or a network card??

You could also try with bt dun/(rfcomm,ppp), if you see there a modem make a dial up connection. Don't know if win10 supporting that.
However me personally would go with a lan connection (bt/wifi/usb), because the modem emulation phonatd of the N900 is not so great and the speed is totally different.

So here the steps to use the usb modem in win7 without the pc suite/ovi app.

1. You have a nokia n900 usb modem in the device manager
2. Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Network and Sharing Center -> setup a new connection or network -> set up a dial-up connection:

username and password from your provider.

Code:

Dial-up phone number:*99#

user name:internet

password: ****

3. Connect

If your ISP has an apn you could also try this:

dial-up phone number: *99***1#
and configure the usb modem in device manager:
properties->advanced

put following option:

internet.t-d1.de would be the apn.

Sorry, you are right. I did not follow the link, I was put off by the word "latest". I know for a fact that the last time I tried, I had serious difficulties locating the Nokia Suite as ancient as 3.8. The Nokia web site was already down and all I could find on Microsoft was PC Suite 10 or something like that. I had to dig very deep to find 3.8.

I did some quick search now and it seems the situation has reversed. So I take back my statement.
