Nokia FW servers dead
 

I have noticed that ATM for a period of three days the Nokia servers holding the Firmware for N9 are no longer responding.

The nds2.fds-fire.nokia.com doesnt even hold a DNS record anymore.

I urge anyone to safe-keep their downloaded firmwares for N9, but, also suggest that we (Council task perhaps) collect available firmwares and keep them safe for download for TMO users.

I hope this is temporarily, but fear the worst!

This is an unfortunate development. You might be able to find some firmwares by searching (filtering) for them on archive.org:

Perhaps the server is still alive and it's just DNS record that has gone. Does anyone happen have the last known IP address of this server?

Yeah. IP seems to have been 23.74.75.153

Gotta copy of it tucked away on a couple external (redundancy in case the redundancy fails eh :D) along with a whack of n9 debs. and other pertinent stuffin'
along with allllll things good'n maemo...

Planet goes bat***** crazy.... then my external storages and all my extra devices should be fine from the emp's ...
I'll be melba toast along with everybody else but hey...
those mutant sentient cockroaches can pick up the good work and follow through ...

In the mean time bases are covered....
multiple back ups of criticals exist ...
If there is a need or there is someone doing permanent hosting...
then I'm sure many can oblige...

I've got:
I have had also 059L7Z9 but I am not sure if it's still somewhere on my disc/k(s).
I may upload them if needed (let me know if yes) but it will took some time.

"Other" as you suggest would be best I'd imagine.
There are a few places safe for it's storage / etc...

Maemo = or < 5 may be fine.... may be excused.. even ....
overlooked ...by "the Powers That Watch"
but higher?

Fantastic news! Let's hope they've gone for HTTPS this time. I always found it unnerving when downloading something as critical as firmware from the old server.

I think it would be a good idea to create a list on the wiki of all firmware images and their MD5/SHA checksums in case Microsoft ever decide they want to kill this service. This wiki page should probably be locked to the council for editing to prevent sabotage from untrusted sources. Maybe the council could also download a copy of all of the images too for contingency. I know that there could be issues with the legality of redistribution but that can easily be resolved by anonymous upload. ;)

So, it's my first post at TMO:) I was active reader in this forum:)

I decided to collect as much as i can firmware versions of n9. Make mirrors of repositories, collect useful info.

there is all firmware's i found yesterday. (sorry if i stole somebody firmwares, but i wanted to keep them in one place).

If somebody would explain how to read strange firmware names i think i could catalogue them i folders:) (version, region, 64gb or 16gb etc.)

And if you have firmware versions, that i don't have, and want to share with me, feel free to contact me:) I will happily store them in my mini server.

Sorry for my English, and for bad post, i don't post many posts in forums.

I've uploaded a bunch of FW images to my site. You can find almost all the files somewhere else on the web, but in the situation like ours more backups mean more confidence I think )
