Camera phone competition May 2016: "Snobs"
Let us get started for May!
Since Half-Life_4_Life is absent since some weeks i think it would be a nice gesture towards him to not let this fine idea sink into oblivion but show it created a life of its own ;) Please feel free to contribute everyone, until Half-Life_4_Lifes return, we should concider the "Photo Competition Admin" position sort of a trophy Imho. Our recurring champion Ste-phan says: Quote:
Photos must be taken during this month Photos must be taken by the posting member Photos must be taken with a camera phone Users post only one photo per entry Users can change the entry only once Users must name the phone they used (so I could include it for voting) Last three days of this month are for voting And again, feel free everyone to start the voting at 0:00cest 2016-05-28. the worst part is, legality of photographing a person, and sharing the photo, with or without person's consent. I would vote for photographing an object (like, pink limousine) belonging to a snob (in-topic), but that's not necessarily enough...

Of course it depends on the local legislation what is acceptable; For example in Finland it is OK to take pictures of people in public places and display them; asking for a release is not required.
In other countries, France for example it is not possible, even in street photography you need a release from people who are recognizable. |

This is really a bad theme, regardless of the law, theming people is not a good idea for picture competition, even this time is a negatively evaluated one. It can't be worse.
I hope this does not ruin the competition itself for the future participants. I will quit this round. |

Well hear all those walk-the-liners.. The law this and that..understood but..hey.. on a forum thread visited by 20 people, weekly :D
I'll give you a hint that many of your preferred photograph subjects, namely the pets, are very frequently used as status symbols and your desire to photograph them might even reward you with interesting conversations with their owner. Photography is about human interaction, observation and not necessarily lawsuits. @ chenliangchen . Shanghai / London sounds like extremely fertile ground for this subject. You have virtually won (by an anonymous selfie?) @ Gerbick :Someone with imagination :D Apple store: sounds like great place to start and check out. |

Just posted my photo, but for some reason it went to moderation? New restrictions?
My apologies for not voting last month. I bricked my N9 and I had serious internet access problems in the end of the month. I live in a country where internet bandwidth is still competing hard with having a bunch of pigeons in the back yard. |

white cotton gloves are least effective gear you can wear to protect yourself from hot stuff, espacially steam. They suck the steam and condense it while still being at "uncomfortable" temperature. There are 3 main reasons for white cotton gloves. 1. Protect the good you are handling from fingerprints etc. 2. Show off how clean you can handle tasks that unexperienced would not master without messing up. (may be the case in the video you saw) 3. snobism. So yes, very nice fullfillment of ste-phans hard task for this month imho! |

I vote for newcomer spfoo.
But why didn't catbus choose to enter that contribution? I love the idea of painting a house with an artist's brush, like mowing the lawn with scissors so it's all perfectly even. Except for the fact that the part you'd started on would have grown by the time you finished, but that's why it's funny, right? And thanks to those who participated for showing us how even a tricky theme can be conquered without necessarily hurting anyone's feelings. (Not that photography -- being art -- shouldn't hurt feelings sometimes, but our little friendly monthly competition doesn't need to make anyone sore). |

Really over the top , friend - my only ante would be that at least I use "specially selected" non commercialized higlands arabica beans slowly burned by computer controlled system peculated through my cheap plastic funnel into a lowly thermos. :p |

Our blazing winner of Ste-phans ultimate test wether this competition would survive a rather complicated theme after its original host gone M.I.A., is SPFOO. Congrats and a good hand in finding a fun theme for this month! By the way, i totally like that you are all still here, maybe we should completely cancel the host centrism and let the winner create the new thread when the theme is born? Also catbus policing himself is an awesome sign that we really do not need strikt outspoken rules to have a little fun. Lets just say voting starts approximately 3 days before the month ends.
