Pokémon GO not working on 2.0.2.45 :(

1 Attachment(s)
Here is the apk link: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/nianti...-apk-download/

Install result (img attached).

Any clue :(?

UPDATE 1:

Ok I've enabled alien dalvik logs (https://together.jolla.com/question/...where-to-find/) and the problem seems to be related to SDK version:

Code:

07-06 14:20:13.514 13620 13620 W PackageParser: /data/app/incoming/com.nianticlabs.pokemongo.apk (at Binary XML file line #60): Requires newer sdk version #19 (current version is #16)
UPDATE 2:

I managed to install it by changing sdk version in /opt/alien/system/build.prop and /system/build.prop. Testing ...

It fails to launch (as expected)

UPDATE 3:

So I do not have a lot of time to test, but there are some nice developments in this threads, direct link (reading the whole thread will be better):

https://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?...3&postcount=64
https://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?...0&postcount=74
https://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?...5&postcount=85

Basically read everything from post ~#64 to ~#85, other posts are just about politics/zombies/mass control/ape ****... (in few words OT)

it requires minimal android 4.4, we have 4.1 on Jolla1, so buy JollaC or JollaTablet to play this on sfos :)

What ? Do the JollaC and the tablet have a new version of Alien Dalvik ? Any information about its availability on the Jolla1 ??

Yes, no more Alien Dalvik updates for Jolla1.

You could try an Android chroot

I don't read very often TMO, TJC or news about Jolla and Sailfish.

I got the post saying that's because of the kernel version. What is the problem about a kernel upgrade ?

you should ask in TJC peoples working in Jolla and responsible for aliendalvik. There are no experts in this forum, or they are very rare.

Wait... so they'll never update update aliean dalvik because they do npt want to update the kernel?

It's not that they don't want but that they can't.
The kernel is supplied together with the chipset and tied closely to the hardware by Qualcomm. Qualcomm would have to upgrade certain drivers and they see no profit in that.
Android phones, and on kernel-level, the Jolla is also one, are usually stuck with the kernel version they came with. There's not much Jolla can do about this... :(

It installs on Jolla Tablet, but it hangs when I run it. Not really sure why. Maybe wait until it goes live in Europe and install through Google Play store.

try to enable alien dalvik logs (see first post update 1)

Rubz 2016-07-07 18:09

Re: Pokémon GO not working on 2.0.2.45 :(

I tried that (mkdir /opt/alien/logs) but it doesn't create any logs. Not even after restarting the device. The icon for it also isn't showing up, so the only way to run it by reinstalling and pressing 'Open' after it's done. Not looking too great...

Probably alien dalvik is located somewhere else in the jolla tablet

The main reason for hanging is the architecture ;)

No, it's more complex. First off, it's non-trivial to upgrade people's existing Android app data which makes it problematic for Jolla to issue it as a SW update => lots of care mail that it can't handle.

Second, there might be quirks in media codecs etc that break existing apps as 4.1.2 was not a happy moment for Qualcomm.

Third, there might be issues that only appear on SbJ and there wouldn't be money to work on it.

It could run on Android 4.1.2 HW adaptation and I think I've had that working before.

To conclude, the only way it could only be available would be in unsupported form and developer/technology preview kind of thing.

Of course, that depends on the interest by people* and if there's money to actually work on it.

(* I really wish we lived in a world where people could stuff money into a bond that gets paid out to a company in case a company gets something done; without the overhead of credit card processing, etc..)

Well Said @stskeeps
All those are the main reasons, surely more. But i would say, you nailed it quite well.

Theoretically, Etheruem, or to some lesser extent Bitcoin. If I understand Ethereum well enough, the bond could encoded in its blockchain, and be payed out to Jolla/Maryad if a certain percentage of the sponsors or trusted third party agree the product is delivered as specified. If not delivered, the money is returned to the sponsors.

But well... try to find enough J1 users AND willing to pay for an Android upgrade AND have some Ether to spare…

meemorph 2016-07-11 08:47

Do not install the version with DroidPack Trojan!

Added poll here:

Seems if you wipe existing Android app data a lot of things work, but not camera and possibly video acceleration is broken and some issues to solve.

I have a Jolla because I don't want to use centralized privately-controlled profiling advertisement channels like Twitter. Otherwise I'd have gotten myself an Android a long time ago.

Anyway. I'd still be interested. Not having camera isn't a fatal issue in many cases, as you often can select a photo from the gallery. I.e. take picture with native camera app, use picture in Android app.

I guess having both 4.1 and 4.4 installed, and choose at install of the APK which one to use, is too much trouble? ;)

If only this was in any way reliable - frequently I will take pictures with the native camera app (J1 this is), or save things in the native browser and they'll be nowhere to be seen in the Android side. I restart dalvik, restart the phone, which I think has occasionally worked (sometimes the pic appears in the middle of all the pics, maybe to do with datestamps?), but sometimes I just have to forcibly "share to Android" from the native gallery as it simply doesn't appear in Android gallery pickers/views ever.

If you create same poll at tjc, it will boom, you know. So, just do it, and post your account for donations :)

This place is too full of blowhards that talk a lot, deliver very little and want too damn much with rarely doing anything.

Simply put, a poll for something, even out of curiosity has brought forward commentary about social media. Thanks for stating it - nobody who wants Android 4.4 cares.

Feh. Would I want the update to Android 4.4, yes. Should it have already been offered? Yes. Would people stop talking about how they don't even use Android enough to allow those folks that may want/use/have need for it to be heard... not a chance.

Unpopular opinion? Yes.

Re: Pokémon GO not working on 2.0.2.45 :(

That is easy. If you have a spare $100 or $200, buy a mid-range android phone.

If you have a spare $100k or $200k. Invest it to Jolla, it may happen. Or even they can share you with some private testing version.

If you have no money, code it yourself.

If you have no money nor time, why would they do it? The phone has already been discontinued. Why would any sensible party spend time and money and effort on this???!

Quite. It's like the vegan stereotype but with people who don't use Android applications. Instead of someone going to a steak restaurant to proclaim "hey, did you know that I'm a vegan?", it's someone going to threads specifically and exclusively about Android applications to proclaim "hey, did you know I don't use Android applications?".

It is a very good simile except that it is not 100% complete. You are forgetting that you are in a vegetarian restaurant that has introduced some meat dishes on their menu in a misguided attempt to attract more customers. And when you stand up and demand an upgrade from a 8 oz steak to 12 oz, you act surprised when someone from the table next to you gently taps on your shoulder and asks, "did you realize that there is a steak house right next door?"

No, because the support for Android applications has been one of the big selling points of Sailfish OS since the very beginning.
