Camera phone competition August 2016: "Time"
 

Hello :)

Well, this month's theme may seem related to some of my submissions (history is my weakness), but please do not feel obliged to follow this obvious association. In fact, I had a different idea before and the theme was conceived as an answer to my last photo great deficiency -- that there was a backstory that had to be told separately.

What I mean is -- let's try to capture more than a snapshot that photo usually is. Let's show that the moment the shutter clicks is anchored in past and/or future also; maybe it's a beginning, maybe an end, maybe a pivot, moment of change -- or in contrary, a steady process that began long ago and will go on. Or just find a really picturesque clock ;)

Ah, there should be rules of course. Nothing new (just copied from earlier contests):

Photos must be taken during this month
Photos must be taken by the posting member
Photos must be taken with a camera phone
Users post only one photo per entry
Users can change the entry only once
Users must name the phone they used

Last three days of this month are for voting

Background story:
Both me and my other half are Bloody Foreigners (tm) living in the UK and as such have no relatives here, thus facing a challenge every school break, runnng out of our whole year's holiday entitlement by mid August and all that jazz. Our kids just spent two weeks with my sister in another country, affording us a much needed releaf. This picture is from the flight when I was going to collect them. To me, it is the embodiment of our constant struggle against time.

Another couple of Bloody Foreigners with no relatives living in the UK as well. Also saving up holidays for a long trip. I can understand all the feelings!

Come on people, it's the 27th! The last three days of the month are supposed to be for voting and that starts the day after tomorrow!

The middle to August here means "Back to School" time. Sales tax "holidays," school supplies, new shoes and new backpacks.

First day of elementary school means a new grade for children, a realization that they've gotten a year older and so have you, and also the realization that Autumn is right around the corner.

I like mosen's, too, and wish the sun had been a little more cooperative. It's been a few years since I've taken the kid on one of those in good old Branson -- Las Vegas if it were designed by Ned Flanders. (Since then, I've kinda lost my nerve to ride amusement park rides. We now know there are no national regulations or standards for fixed attractions in the US. As long as it meets building codes like not collapsing under its own weight or blowing over in the wind, a water slide is free to decapitate you!)

It's September 1st, so let's count:

So catbus's vote is the tiebreaker, and it came in at 4:34 on 1 September, relative to US CDT, which is UTC-5, so 9:34 UTC on 01/09/2016 (unless I'm wrong, of course). Depending on location, it could still be August 31 at catbus's location. And honestly, I don't know how precise we want to be, or even when we define "end of month".

Thanks I have to admit that my pict wasnt the best one but It matched the subject :-)

For next competition, If this topic wasn't proposed before, I propose "Darkness" .

This can be tricky, I don't really know how to make pictures in the night or when there no enough light, everytime there is too much noise going along.
Also please share your tips....
