Can I still recover this N9?
So I found my N9 which I had kept in a box somewhere because it had died and wasnt getting detected by the computer and I had switched to android in the mean time.
I wanted to recover it for the sake of the good old days so I hooked it up to the pc just for the heck of it and voila it is getting detected ,though since the battery was dead I tired using: flasher -i in hopes of charging it but that does nothing. So I went ahead and tried flasher -f -F rootfs.bin -F nomaps.bin --flash-only=mmc This charges the phone thankfully but then it finishes the flashing and the phone is stuck in a reboot loop, the screen doesent even light up ( the led goes from fait to a bright white and then turns off and repeats the process) Any help would be appreciated. PS: Since it almost impossible to find the exact firmare anyomre I'm using the below mentioned files from here http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...00&postcount=1 DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3_PR_LEGACY_001-OEM1-958 and DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.13-7.NOMAPS_EMMC_NOMAPS My device variant is 059j1z5 16 GB Code:
C:\Program Files\Nokia\Flasher>flasher -f -F rootfs.bin -F nomaps.bin --flash-only=mmc |
Re: Can I still recover this N9?
Try flashing the rootfs.bin only first before flashing the emmc.bin
It might be that some files needed by some of your apps in rootfs were lost by reformatting the emmc and thus the bootloops |

Last I checked a year or more ago perhaps the screen was working fine.I guess its a screen issue. So long to an old friend.Back in the box it goes. |
Re: Can I still recover this N9?
Do you have any luck booting if you enable R & D mode first?
flasher --enable-rd-mode --set-rd-flags=no-lifeguard-reset |
Re: Can I still recover this N9?
Leave it some time. I had some month ago the same (after starting no UI). Some reboots doesnt change the behavior. Than i put it on and leave on the table but with charger.
After one or two hours the screen came up and everything was fine again ;) |

One thing comes to mind; if you cannot ssh to the device at least what I'd do is to login to it via the serial connection.
Then you could enable ssh and vnc and see what's going on in the display :D |

Look at this picturr, and schematics
https://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=82571 I believe you also need a custom kernen, with additional boot parameters |
Re: Can I still recover this N9?
Wow, this looks like a serious alterations. I would start with unplugging both the screen & battery and cleaning the connectors. My N9 had kinda different symptoms though - power led was blinking unevenly and the screen was dead. Re-plugging internal connectors was the cure.

Fortunately you do not need to break the device like in the picture. The pins are accessible from underneath the SIM card tray too :D This is just by development device that I have permanent soldered connection! :p And no special kernel is needed, the default Harmattan kernel lets you in with root/rootme just as well. |

However, that's not needed to have serial connection. |
