Nokia Charger via USB port CA-100
Does anyone know if the Nokia charger CA-100 would work on an N800?
It isn't in the computability list and I wonder why. |
Re: Nokia Charger via USB port CA-100
I'm pretty new to the forums, but i believe this has been discussed.... Do a search on CA-100...

Re: Nokia Charger via USB port CA-100
Yes it will.
Unfortunately can't get them easily here in NZ, one "reputable" store sourced one from the Nokia distributor and the consumer price was like $73 (that's what around US$55)! I found a USB to 2.5mm cable on TradeMe (like eBay but with a much higher pentration in NZ) for only NZ$12 and it works a charm. |
Re: Nokia Charger via USB port CA-100
Does the 2.5 mm fit well? I thought it was 2mm (and I found a dirt cheap 2.5 mm one online, less than us $2 shipped)

Re: Nokia Charger via USB port CA-100
sorry for asking again, but does a 2.5mm connector fit well or will it damage the socket?

Re: Nokia Charger via USB port CA-100
dude it doesn't fit. i thought it would but it's .5mm too long.

Re: Nokia Charger via USB port CA-100
For the New Zealanders here you can try Acquire. Right now the CA-100 is going for $42.60 NZD, much better than Expansys who want $65.20
http://www.acquire.co.nz/acquire/def...l&pf_id=991653 There's alos a much cheaper third party one going on TradeMe for $10 |
Re: Nokia Charger via USB port CA-100
Boxwave has a USB datacable for the N800 that has a y-split to mini USB B and ac port of the N800.. haven't tried it but seems like the best solution out there.. I wonder what the pin outs would be from the usb cable to wire your own charger from a standard cable usb cable..

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4860 << a much more agreeable price.
I bought one, it works with my laptop USB port and the USB port of a 4xAA USB power box. Took a week to arrive, shipping was free. |
Re: Nokia Charger via USB port CA-100
I have been using this product from Proporta for a while now.
http://proporta.com/F02/PPF02P05.php...547&t_mode=des It is basically a retractable usb cable with interchangeable tips. the cable was $4.95 and each tip is about a buck. I have about 5 tips and it works well for all of my devices. It is exactly the same as the nokia product, but even better. Proporta also has some other cool products that can be useful for the ITs. Check them out. Cheers, James |
