Newest Image for 810
Hello - So i have my NIB 810- but how new and what image?
I found this one the web: RX-44_DIABLO_5.2008.43-7_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM 1. Is that the latest image for the 810? My 810 lists this: # uname -a Linux Nokia-N810-43-7 2.6.21-omap1 #2 Tue Oct 14 11:25:25 EEST 2008 armv6l unknown So they are both 43-7 - the question is what is PR_COMBINED, and should I flash this or is there another better community created update for the 810? |

I do not know.
But what about following any of the provided links, courtesy of endsormeans? |
Re: Newest Image for 810
Thanks Peter.
I mentioned my signature already... but only generally. I would advise that you thoroughly follow the walk through and all the subsequent referred threads in it...from the link in my signature "Pimp my n8x0" It doesn't get any more comprehensive. It is written in mind for those who are new to linux as much as its written for those who have forgotten the process to get their n8x0 to optimum state (since it can be many many years before one finds the need to reflash due to the stability of the os...it is therefore very easy to forget the process...I use the guide myself now and then when I need it...since it saves time trying to recall and time hunting down specifics.) Though the walk through is done on an n800, the same process basically applies to the n810... Penguinbaits console tools help immeasurably in the process...and I would suggest following any advice pertaining to them concerning the n810 method. I strongly advise not flashing the os via console tools method to the internal storage ...as advised...but instead as suggested... to a sd card in the external bay.... Also remember to follow the suggestions concerning making sure to change the font to a lower setting when dealing with console tools... I could go on... But the walk through does all the suggesting and more (ok...serious-serious time is done now...jeez this is dry talk outta me. ...These are one-offs...no one go expecting this all the time with zero superfluous humour content...I can't keep it up with the straight-face ...it isn't me...before long I can't help but say something wacky.) |

Re: Newest Image for 810
you will end up paying for far more and getting much less in storage capacity in return if you go down the minisd card road.
Depending on availability that is.. You may get outright fleeced...instead. auouymous has it right. You can find minisd to microsd adapter cards more plentiful and cheaper. I bought a bag of a 100 of them for pennies a piece about 7 years ago... but it is your choice. |
Re: Newest Image for 810
Yes- i did exactly that. It's a micro that has a mini-adapter. Thanks for the warning. I didn't have much choice either way.
