Is it worth changing the OS? What OS can be installed on the N9?

I have an N9 and I would like to know if it is worth changing the operating system.

What operating systems can be installed on the N9?

Which ones work well and which ones work worse?

Personally don't think that it's worth the effort, ran early Sailfish OS but not really functional.

Metoo. The best is the original harmattan (pr1.3 for me). You can use it still as phone, sms messages, calendar sync, contacts sync and weather forecast (meecast - it got an update this year, WOW).

Maemo Leste also has an N9 version in the works.

edit: of course the original OS is still functional, but not so secure anymore when connecting to the internet/www.

what does 'in the works' mean? The images are from 2018 and still not there (error 404).

It is more for developers, but when you don't need a daily driver and no phone functions you will get a newer linux which is great for playing around.

Definitely newer than 2018 and definitely not 404.

edit: as things stand right now, it might be better to use the most current harmattan version and apply some updates/hacks etc. That entails a lot of reading of the wiki and these forums right here. I know because I did some of it (not all though).

Thank you very much, I will do a clean install of MeeGo Harmattan PR 1.3 001 for Europe.

I will advance from Harmattan installing apps and hacks.

Is this the file I need?
