Why the screen brightness of N800 is not equal?

I have bought a N800 ,The seller posted it to me from USA.
When power on I find the brightness of the screen is not much symmetrical, the right side area(the width is about 1cm)
is a little dark,Is’s very obvious when the background is white color, for example, when the machine is starting/browsing the website.
It’s looks not too good.I want to know is it normal,All the N800 is the same?
Or I should to change another new machine?
Thank you very much!

I had a N770, then a N800, which got a new screen after repair. That means 3 screens in total. Each screen had shadows. My new N800 screen is the best one out of these 3, but it also has that shadow at the right border (yes, approx. 1 cm). After all it does not disturb me too much.

My N800 is just the same. my workmates got a 770 and it has the same issue, so I suppose they are all the same. after a while you wont even notice it.

Oh!

I've had an N800 for maybe half a year now, and I'm generally quite fuzzy about display things like anti-aliasing, etc. I hadn't noticed this, but its clearly there if you look closely.

I find some discussion above about this problem.Someone say it's normal, but someone not.I don't know which one I should beleve .Can I pick out a machine of no shadow? If all these machine is the same, I will don't need to change it ,maybe the next one is the worse.I am worrying about...
have all the N800 this problem?

All colour LCD mobile devices I have use light diodes on one side. They are always more or less visible if you look. On the N800 they will show shadows on a white background (because the light is distributed in a shallow angle to reach all the way for this particularly long display).

Same here. Not as bad as a Creative Labs portable video player that I had though.

A certain amount of right-side shadow is normal and unavoidable based on the original backlight emitter design. The emitter was supposedly improved after product launch; I have no confirmation of this though. All of my N800s are original units and exhibit varying degrees of shadow, none of which impede usability.

Note that if you look closely you can see the same issue on phones.

I noticed that after about a month, this problem got better and even started to go away. Maybe give it some time.

Just bought a N800 from Amazon. It has the same issue. It annoying me a lot because I bought it to read ebooks.
