Hell, I had that on one only 5 minutes young...it sucks big time! Next one comes in and a few days later again WSoD. If I didn't find the damn thing so useful I would have told nokia to stick it where the sun doesn't shine. I year later on my 3rd 770 and its running like a charm. Personally I'll never buy another nokia product of any type ever again.

770 being returned. Have a Black Sirocco 8800 in my shelf; and a Gold Sirocco coming on Thursday as it has been delayed cause my phone dealer thought he found a cheaper source. Broke my E61 (Nokia) this week after submerging it in water by accident.

Not my week in telecommunications!

You have been visited by the traveling WSOD gnome. There was only one 770 manufactured with that manufacturing flaw and all the posts you see on WSOD are from people whom the gnome visited.

This is rare occurrence but as the good ones get kept, and new ones are no longer forthcoming you stand a very high chance of getting the gnome nowadays.

I was visited by him once before i got a real one so its good to know hes still making the rounds.

His functional counterparts are very fun little devices... i'm sorry you didnt enjoy his little prank... i personally know the dissapointment :S

Not exactly sure what you guys are talking about, especially since I can't see the picture that is supposed to be attached to the first post, but I'm guessing you're referring to the "White Screen of Death"???

If so, I had that happen a few times on my 770. Every time it happens, I simply leave it on and take the battery out while the power is on. Leave the battery out for a minute or two, then everything seems to work fine once the battery is back in.

Maybe something worth trying.

HeHe

My first one lasted 5mins
my second one lasted a year, then gave up the day my n800 arrived, clearly was not happy with the lack of attention. Nokia replaced both for new ones.

WSOD is shown clearly on the picture above, it has faint vertical bars on the white screen. WSOD is not something you can remove the battery and fix.

The White Screen that sometimes resets from battery removal is something different entirely.

A 770 that won't boot sometimes can benefit from battery removal, but if you see the picture above, it's done. Only repair or replacement will help.

Yup its an LCD driver chip failure, removing the battery won't do squat except turn the WSoD to BSoD minus back lighting.

Oh, okay... I'm at work and imageshack.us (where the image is hosted) is blocked by our firewall/proxy because it thinks it's porn. Long story short, I couldn't see the picture, so thanks for the explanation.
