Modified N800 headset!
I test the original headset of N800,the timbre is not good,I have another headset of Sennheiser MX500,and I compare them, the latter is much better,Maybe because of cost,Nokia don't offer a better one,but no mic on MX500,Can I modify it ? I find the way to do it and put it in my website:

Re: Modified N800 headset!
nice work. though i noticed that it's not really the n800 headset. should be the same though, the only difference between hs47 and hs48 should be the jack diameter.

That's a pretty good idea.

Re: Modified N800 headset!
The headset from the N95 works with the N800 and is superior in every way. It also has media controls on it which could maybe be used in the various media player projects. It would be nice to have a more tactile way of changing songs, adjusting volume, etc. while leaving the N800 locked in one's pocket.

Re: Modified N800 headset!
Is it really that hard to write an configuration-UI or simple installation script for that (or anything else here)? I mean, am I the only one here who doesn't want to bother with xterm, glade etc.? Everyone is annoyed Nokia doesn't give support all the way, but most "dedicated" developers don't care either. It just seems so easy to just throw the dog a bone, isn't it?!
I'm not registered in maemo garage nor am I in the mailing list, so I won't file a feature request. Maybe someone else can. |
Re: Modified N800 headset!
Another solution to the included not-great-quality / falls-out-of-your-ear earbuds is to simply plug in your better buds of choice, but continue to use the device's case mounted mic. The built-in mic's compressor seems to be dialed up a bit high , probably so that the mic will pick up your voice as the device is sitting on a table in front of you (rather than right by your mouth.) However, this also makes the mic pick up background noise....but the overall audio quality/clearness for VoIP is quite good.

I would have checked it myself but I am away from my 10+ different headphones (its quite difficult to find a good pair, isn't it?) Speaking about headsets, I never quite understood how to turn down the mic volume when using the voip. Is it simply fixed? Regards, Chris |
