bashrc

Heya, I noticed that 0s 2007 for the n770 doesn't use bash, it uses ash, how do I edit the startup text and some variables? Basically, which file for ash is equivilent to .bashrc for regular linux systems?

Alas, ash is quite a bit dumber than bash. You have to edit /etc/profile, but be careful, any mistakes will impact all shells (even the shell you want to use to fix the mistake).

I have repackaged bash from http://packages.debian.org/sid/bash/armel/download

I haven't figured out how to get it into a repository yet. So for now you can download it from my website:
http://www.makikiweb.com/n800/downlo...1.17.armel.deb

I hear that it isn't a good thing to change the 'user' login to bash. Search the forum for that note. So I just type bash at the ash prompt, and I have a nice scriptable, aliasable shell.

I hope this helps,

Craig...

Instead of editing the global /etc/profile you can also add (and edit) /home/user/.profile
