changing or adding file association
 

OK, I searched the forums but no one posted a clear conscise answer.

I have .flv files (thanks UKtube!). I have Mplayer that plays .flv files fine. Yet when I select a .flv file it says it is "Unable to recognize file type". I want Mplayer to play all .flv files.

So I select an app to open it, and it just opens the app not the file itself.

There has to be a simple way to accomplish this. Even a clear way to edit the usr/share/mime/ directory would suffice (as in "make a copy of this file, change these lines, and DON"T touch these lines" kinda help). Even if I have to make a mime.xml file is fine, just need to know what I can change and how to do it properly without borking my system. :confused:
