MicroB on 770 with OS2006
What are the advantages of MicroB over Opera? Is it worth installing? Any tips on a smooth installation process - I have seen forum entries which indicate getting the right repositories can be difficult.

But unfortunately the reality is different. Quote:
I did it, and the installation wasn't the main problem. Seems they first messed up repo contents and dependencies, but that shouldn't be a problem now. But after the installation nothing really worked anymore. Switching back to the Opera engine didn't help, even the deinstallation didn't work, the installation was completely trashed. I mean not only no browser worked from that time on, but also some other of the built-in apps behaved quirky. I had to reflash my 770. My suggestion: On the 770, just use the built-in Opera, and avoid more demanding (or complex) web pages. Forget sites like eBay, your unit (or at least the browser) will crash at least once a day. Hope they finally get it right with OS2008. So maybe you should get a cheap 800, and upgrade that to OS2008... HTH Ray |

MicroB on 2006 = Problems.
I had the same as the other poster, once installed no amount of coaxing would bring back Opera to functional. I ended up trying 2007HE and despite that it's the same Opera it seems faster ( once booted ). I also turn OFF javascript and plugins because they are much more hassle than they are worth on the 770. Buy.com is also taunting me with their falling n800 prices. |

I tried it on os2007he, and it just crashed. Had to reflash to get opera back. Then I found the flash 9 plugin, and have been using that successfully for the last week or so. Much better than having to install a 2nd browser.
