Prices

Does anyone have a clue how much this is going to cost for the UK. I know its $450 in the US, but the UK it very expensive, the exchange rate means nothing.Cheers

Not sure at all.

What would be the major issue surrounding ordering the US/Canadian version?

Just a curious ol' sea dog.

I *just* read on t3.co.uk the following:

Quote:

It's due to hit Blighty before Christmas for £299 minus SIM, so expect it to be substantially cheaper on contract.

All this makes it a shoo-in for our gadget of the week. Pat on the back chaps.
I think, that they think, that this is a phone. Contract? Maybe a GPS contract, but that's optional. :D Not sure about this 'Blightly' business.

There isnt really a major issue but i have not found a US/Canadian shop willing to post to the UK for under $100 (tax and VAT included of course).
But at the end of the day £300 doesnt sound too shabby.

Great! I'm actually happy for you! It would be a shame to be denied the pleasure of owning this device due to inflated price.

I'm a Canadian, so if the price is too high here (sometimes it happens), I'll just order from the states, or take a trip to New York.

Unlike American companies, Nokia seem to have heard of the exchange rate. When the n800 came out, it worked out about the same price in £ as in $ after the exchange rate. Unlike the normal $1=£1 rule :)

Danger, Will Robinson! Danger!

The price they're quoting is significantly less than the price of the N800 at most UK outlets right now (apart from Play.com).

Seems odd to me that the new model should go on sale for significantly less than the asking price for the older model. Especially considering the new model is being sold for more than the older model everywhere else in the country.

In the long term I'd expect the N800 to sell for around £150 and the N810 for around £299, maybe slightly less. Both prices inc VAT.

I've also never heard of supertrader.co.uk and am always a little suspicious of companies that name themselves so unimaginatively. Your mileage may vary but you might want to buy with your credit card, so you've some financial guarantee ...
