External Battery pack ideas...

http://blog.russnelson.com/770/N800-...l-battery.html

Wish we could have a full back plate battery molded in place of the trap door with a usb plug to recharge :-)

Anyone is connected with acessorie makers so we can have 12-24h continuous use battery with solar panel on the back? ;-)

Are there no Nokia N800 battery that is better then the one shipped with it? Even digital photo cameras could be fitted with better batterypacks.

It just came to me.. What is the charging voltage on a N800? you put in a charger right? I guess it is maybe 5-6volt output on it? If you have a li-po cell stuck on the back with velcro you could have a Zener diode on it or a step-down voltage regulator for RC-car receivers so you could plug in an external package when your internal is low on voltage.

some lipo is very small.. like this one I have:

Yeah. I can with my Solio. In fact mine's charging right now.

You can charge the N800 with any regulated 5V DC source (although it can accept slightly less, but more important also a bit more. I've heard people charging it with 6V for example, although personally I'm wary of such experiments because it all depends on how robust the N800 charger control circuit is. Which I don't know). The charger that comes with it can deliver 890mA, which charges it reasonably quickly. The smaller Nokia chargers which deliver less than half can also be used, but the charging takes much longer (and can barely keep up if you run the N800 hard at the same time).

hmm.. The voltage regulator for RC receivers is 6volt.. maybe put a LED-diode in serial with the battery to indicate voltage with a light and on the same time dropping the voltage a bit.
Or I could just put a Zener-Diode in serial with the battery.

Think I want to try this when I get the N800.. If this work I could add an external package to extend batterylife when I travel and not needing to power it down.
When the internal is charged up I could unplug the external.

This looks good for this purpose http://www.eastgear.com/shop/product...2fcc7082b2ede0 Another cheaper possibility of course is to simply get another battery (~$10 online) and carry it with you. :)

Got this http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4284 which comes with an adaptor. the only problem I see it's that the connector is SO FLIMSY...duuno why they didn't use the slightly bigger connector that most Nokia phones have.
I am always concerned when I move the device + charger that the connector might break.

I have this exact thing. Works great.
