N800 as an alarm clock

Hi all,

With a N800 at 239€ (amazon.de), I'm more and more considering to buy one.

Being sick of my freaking alarm clock (loudy, noisy, bright), I'm wondering if the N800 couldn't do the trick (among everything else it can do...).

What I'm basically interested in is being able to read the music stored on my server through wifi - and eventually run Jive (slimserver's portable client), but that's another story.

Here's what I'm basically looking for :
- a full screen clock, with adjustable brightness (if it can look like mClock, that would be awesome)
- ability to read either my music folder (picking a file randomly) over SMB, NFS, or uPnP, or a stream (whether slimserver's stream, or a webradio, or whatever)

How does it sound? Am I dreaming awake, or does it exist anything that sounds like what I'm looking for?

Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Gurney

I find it lacking in volume.

The alarm clock isn't 100% reliable for some reason. It works most of time if plugged in. Sound is ok but you have to put it in the highest setting or pick a song that is loud to begin with.

I use mine as an alarm clock. Forgetting to plug it in causes disaster though. The low battery alarm might just wake you a couple of hours early...

Thanks for the replies.

What about reading a stream, or reading files over network, as an alarm ?

Cheers,
