Overclock Bounty

Hi all,

I'd like to offer and hope that others join me in offering a bounty to the first person that figures out how to overclock the N770 safely.

I love my tablet but would love for it to just be a bit faster and having seen the same processor overclocked on Windows Mobile OSs know that the processor can handle a 35-50% overclock. 282Mhz anyone? :)

So, I offer a $10 bounty via PayPal to anyone that can show me how to overclock the device without having to open the device or muck with the hardware.

sounds like a great plan. I too will offer US$10 bounty for the ability to over and underclock the N770, on the fly, with no reboot required.

I would be willing to offer a bounty for a system tray applet to over and underclock the processor in my n800 on OS 2007/OS 2008.

Hey, get your own thread. This is the N770 board! :D

Ok.
It makes sense.
But any such assembler code utility should be provided by TI to developers if available any.

Re: Overclock Bounty

770 is already kind of overclocked, it runs OMAP 1710 at 252Mhz, normal is 220 see http://focus.ti.com/general/docs/wtb...contentId=4670
Nokia gets speed-sorted chips so they can use higher clock safely but there may not be enough room for further increase. Still it may be worth trying (for someone) but don't expect miracles and do expect problems.

As for underclocking 770, this was already discussed, search this forum. Don't expect significant battery savings, power management is already pretty good and OMAP 1710 cannot do voltage scaling (which gives most savings when underclocking)

You are right.

So maximum is not maximum yet.
How die Nokia overclock OMAP 1710 anyway ?

What about running Java applications on N770 (Java acceleration) ?

Re: Overclock Bounty

Presumably there's something in the kernel source that will show us how the speed change has been made for the N800.

I didn't realise the 770 had Jazelle acceleration.

Search for Jazelle on the maemo-developers list. I've got some more info to add to all that, need to summarise it and send a post to the list.
