Easy Internet Storage for N800?
I'm about to take a trip and would like to be able to take the SD card out of my camera and put it into my N800 in order to upload my photos to internet storage - in case I lose the camera (or God, forbid, the N800).
The problem is that all of the internet storage providers I've looked at have rather complicated web interfaces that are hard to use on the N800's small screen. Is there one out there with a simple web interface? Or is there an ftp client for the N800? Thanks for any info. |

Haven't tried it yet, but other apps from that author work great: http://david.hautbois.free.fr/joomla...nc=select&id=8

Ah yes. This is the exact reason I posted a question about Jungledisk a couple of weeks ago. Sadly, it went unanswered, but I'm glad to see some life in this thread.

Re: Easy Internet Storage for N800?
The 'default' camera (v 2.9) [catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com/certified] has an upload facility into Flickr. [camera - settings - Flickr]
So you could use the same folder [Removable memory card - camera - images] to capture your pictures or transfer them into it. [PS: I have not used this yet myself] Maemopicasa [download1][download2] [as mentioned above by zeez] Personally I have been using photobucket.com and find its user interface quite easy. ftp client for n800: I use MaemoFTP |
Re: Easy Internet Storage for N800?
There might be a solution using sshfs, but it probably won't be as simple as you would like.

Re: Easy Internet Storage for N800?
Thanks to everyone for all the info. I ended up trying out Maemopicasa (mentioned above in this thread) and it looks good. It uses a simple, easy to read interface and uploads single photos or entire directories from any local folder on your N800 right to Picasa's web-based service (picasaweb.google.com). Picasa gives you one GB of storage for free and I think another 10 GB for $20 per year.

Re: Easy Internet Storage for N800?
richken - I have a similar need as you. I take lots of pictures on a trip and store them away on my Picasa Web Albums site for safe keeping. I would like to do this with the Nokia IT.
I just tried to use Maemopicasa after downloading and installing the Gdataclient and Maemopicasa files as instructed on the developer's homepage. Application Manager reports that all installations were complete and successful. I rebooted the Nokia IT and then tried to run Maemopicasa. Absolutely nothing happened after I selected the Maemopicasa icon from the Extras menu. I was left with the home screen and the application did not start as far as I could determine. Could there be a problem with OS2008? Has anyone tried Maemopicasa with OS2008 and have it working? Thanks in advance for your replies! Steve |
Re: Easy Internet Storage for N800?
Just to add yet another alternative, Nokia bought Twango last year and has used it to start their own storage service:
