Can you tell if video chat works with MSN and Yahoo ( N8x0 <-> PC) ?

Re: Video chatting n800

There are basically 3 choices for video in OS2008 from what I've seen:

Gizmo
=====
Using their client software you can have video from N8xx to N8xx or N8xx to PC. They released an update for the N8xx client the other day which is a little better, but the video coming from the N8xx is still pretty strange at times. (video coming in from the PC looks good) My guess is that their "bandwidth measurements" on the N8xx might be getting in the way. I have yet to see it measure any connection over 250kbps on the N800 even with very fast outbound connections.

Jabber/GTalk
==========
The N8xx uses jingle-video for this which is an open standard. The problem here is that there aren't any PC Jabber clients that seem to support it yet. Not even the PC GTalk client. (Which is odd as Google basically wrote the spec for jingle-audio/jingle-video). So at this point it's N8xx to N8xx until someone releases a PC Jabber client with jingle-video support. (Personally I'm guess we'll see this from google next year given their video aquisitions)

SIP
===
OS2008 also support H.263 video over SIP. :D This would work from n8xx to n8xx or n8xx to PC also. I tried it on the LAN here with an N800 and a PC running Eyebeam, both connecting through Asterisk. It looked great! I'm just battling some quirks and NAT issues that I'm hoping to work out. But from what I've seen, this is the highest quality video option by far. Really very impressive.

Yes. It does look a bit better in daylight.

I have been trying to use Gismo, but cannot find the option for video to get it working. I am using the n810 to PC version with no luck. Their web site is a little lame at best.

Make sure you are using the latest (beta) Windows client. That's the only one with video support on the PC.
