VPNC, how to?

Hello, I'm just wondering how I can setup VPN access to my Vista box, or in short what goes to what field in VPNC GUI configuration screen

Gateway
Group-Name
Group-PW
Username
Password
Doman

Do I also need to change something in Vista or install something or what?

Re: VPNC, how to?

More:

In gateway I wrote the gateway address I get from IPCONFIG.

Groupname: I just entered "WORKGROUP".

Username & Password: I entered my Vista user account details

GROUP-PW & Domain fields I left empty.

After that I followed this guide. However I skipped step 7 because I have no clue what to write there.

Then I hit connect on VPNC client.

Error message I get is:

vpnc: binding to port 500: Address already in use

So, what's next?

Re: VPNC, how to?

Hi!

VPNC is a client to connect to a CISCO VPN Gateway.
I'm not really sure what you want to do, but if you just want to access files on vista go with ssh instead. If you want to see your desktop on you tablet look into rdesktop or vnc.
Rdesktop might be the better solution with vista, because it uses RDP, which is build into vista.

If you worry about security you should look into tunneling a vnc connection through ssh.

Hope this helps.

I tried to uninstall Vpnc Gui from application manager, everything had been removed, but the name still show at the Menu Extras. When I go back to application manager, installed programs field , Vpnc Gui doesn't show on the list. And I have tried to install and uninstall again, the result is still the same. How can I remove the name from the Menu EXtras?
