Can a USB to RJ-45 adapter be used?
does anyone know if this can be used on an N800. Well, I am sure it can be used - but is it possible or easy with a few hacks?
This adapter can come in handy when in a wired-only environment. coincidentally, it is now on sale on www.ejectit.com thanks. |
Re: Can a USB to RJ-45 adapter be used?
In OS2008 there's a driver for the Realtek 8150 chipset, so I'd imagine it's at least possible to use adapters based on it, provided you can power them.
It should be possible to compile kernel modules to support other chipsets as well. As far as I know the USB port only provides 100mA of current, which isn't enough for most devices. I grabbed an adapter off eBay, once I get my hands on it I'll be doing all I can to make it work :) |

You might want to consider a 'USB net' solution with connection sharing on a host computer:

@dblank. Good luck with the work! keep us posted.
@tolou. Thanks for the idea. I hadn't thought about USB networking at all. I am checking it out right now. |
