Help With Putting DVD's On the N810 to Watch While Travelling

who can recommend good software for "ripping" (?) full DVD movies onto the N810? How much of a memory card do you need to put a typcial movie on a SDHC card anyway?

Re: Help With Putting DVD's On the N810 to Watch While Travelling

I've started transfering some files with the default software that comes with puppulinux. It was my first venture away from the Windows world.

EDIT: Correction, the default sotware can rip, but doesn't seem to convert, I might be looking in the wrong place though. One possibility would be VLC Media player (www.videolan.org/vlc) it can exprort to file. I'm just having trouble idenifying the compatable format (and smallest size needed). They use different terminology or don't offer 'mpeg4-AAC'.

If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it also.

If you're using Linux, I'd recommend (but I would, cos I wrote it), tablet-encode:

The v2.01 release tomorrow will also include auto-detection of the longest DVD title, making it even easier to rip DVDs.

Handbrake (http://handbrake.m0k.org/) + N800 Video Convert (http://xoomer.alice.it/sepaolo/n800vc/)

I'm sure Handbrake on its own, with the right settings, would suffize, but N800VC is so quick and easy I've never bothered.

It may be you'll need some sort of DVD decrypting utility but, not knowing whether it's still legal on Earth to point those out, you're on your own here.
