Organize applications in 2008 on N810?
Basic searches on the forum haven't shown a solution to this real simple problem. How do I move applications around w/in the "Applications" categories? W/in "Settings:Panels" I can select an Organize button, but it won't let me delete some basic apps, e.g. Skype (I gizmo), or Images. I'd like to put Claw & Gizmo in the "My Selection" folder, but can't figure out how to do it. I also wouldn't mind re-organzing the Contacts folder.
Any suggestions? |

you can drag and drop the applications while in the Organize dialog.
You can not delete any apps from there though. You delete them from Applications Manager. What about Skype or whatever? I think the non-hack way to remove the Skype icon is to install the app and then Uninstall it from Applicaion manager. |

Re: Organize applications in 2008 on N810?
I am using OS2008 (latest version: RX-44_2008SE_2.2007.51-3_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin) and it turns out that applications CAN NOT be organized.
I get into Settings -> Control Panel -> Panels -> Organize button (next to applications label) And I can actually select and drag ANY icon into any other folder on the left side of that window. The issue is that applications get no organized at all. The dragged icon kind of "falls back" (so to say) to where it was and nothing happens. I do can create "New Category" and even "Delete it" but icons can not be moved from any given folder (category) to another. Also, I have read suggestions of doing the dragging slowly...and very slowly...and even more slowly. Have done it to no avail. It seems many others are experiencing this behavior. Who can confirm? Any hints on how to fix it ? Or, is this a plain unsolved bug yet ? |

Re: Organize applications in 2008 on N810?
see my recent post on this subject... and
the responses... it sometimes takes several or MORE! tries before the panel organizer realizes you really want to drop it there! someone said drag it to the folder icon instead of the folder name... also you can try dragging and dropping real slow... and make sure you are right in the middle of the row when you let go... i got it to work well enough... also you can re-calibrate your touch screen in case it is slightly off.... good luck! |
Re: Organize applications in 2008 on N810?
I wrote about this a long time ago, when os2008 was just out. Since then, I learned how to do it fairly well.
In my experience you have to make the move very quickly and drop just past the center line. That works maybe 70% of the time for me. The original "mistake" I had been making was trying to drop the icon in the position where I wanted it to go. That almost never works. |
