Refresh Application List Failure on Home Network Only

I have done mulitiple searches and haven't been able to find anything specific to my problem. I have the N800 and am running os2008. I cannot refresh the application list from my home network. I am using a DLink dsl g624t modem/router. I have no problem finding the signal and connecting. I have no problem surfing the web. Yet, when I try to refresh the application list it connects and then freezes on the first repository. BEFORE you say, asked and answered, the repos are fine. If I connect to my friendly neighbor's wi-fi everything refreshes perfectly. The only information I have on his router is that it is a Linksys. I tried to update the firmware on my DLink router but then the entire wifi signal disappeared.
Is there a port I need to open? I have tried with/without the firewall, with/without WPA and WEP. Any ideas?

Do you access the repo with your browser?

Never seen that, and I just checked (Linksys here)... refreshing the application list goes to port 80, same as http/web browsing. So it shouldn't be a port-blocking issue.

Since your web browsing works, I'm hesitant to suggest even trying this because it is so unliikely... but it is one thing that does effect performance between different routers. In OS2008 you can easily change the Wi-Fi Power Saving Mode. Go into your tablet Wi-Fi connection and in the Advanced options you'll see a drop-down list to choose the PSM. Try none, and see if that helps.

No, I access it through the application manager. Never tried through the browser.
Would that make a difference?

I'll try the PSM thing when I get home tonight and report back. Can't hurt. Thanks.

I've dealt with simular problems and I can tell you that no amount of network tweaks will help. It's all in the DNS. I have earthlink, earthlink puts a * in there dns so that if any kind of dns error occurs..... they get a hit on their add page. Plus the dns severs for my area don't always reply in a timely manor so you have to wait for timouts (up to 5 minutes) Your neighbor I'm sure doesn't have the same name servers you do. Your choices are

1. Use another nameserver
2. Refresh using your neighbors wireless and d/l with yours.
3. Build your own nameserver.

Personally I just use OpenDNS. my /etc/resolv.conf is now

nameserver 208.67.222.222
nameserver 208.67.220.220
nameserver 127.0.0.1

my little n800 is much happier. (laptops work better too)

<That ain't no chicken, it's me, a peckin out this here post>

Maybe not

You said you can browse but did you check if you can browse this particular site?

Well, it worked this morning after days of nothing. So I am thinking it is, after all, a DNS issue. I'll play around with that. Thanks all for your input.
