Official N800 OS2008 - do we have a firm date...
... to when this will be released?
I have received my N800 ($199 from Dell) - but dont want to customize it, as my work may be lost when the upgrade is released.... |

If you haven't done anything with it yet, you should wait until the OS2008 hits...
The wait is not that long, really. ;) |

However, when you refer to a not too long wait - is there a firm date from Nokia? Or is it only "if all goes well, maybe sometime in December" kind of date? |

My guess is, it'll be this friday. Then it's mid December and new firmware had always been released on a friday.

QUOTE=Mara;107699]Yes, there is an exact date set when firmware goes public. And, there is a clause that any major findings may cancel that plan...
That's about all I can say... (The date is not public information.)[/QUOTE] Today I found on my N800 / OS2007 OS2007: 4.2007.38-2 installation application an upgrade for Microb-browser; now 0.0.8-4 (not sure if version has changed). As a result the MicrOb is even slower (I know OS 20008...), and does not respond easily to finger scrolling or hyperlink initiating. The following sites are not displayed correctly or even unusable: Reuters, Yahoo Beta, Buienradar.nl. Opera a runs these sites smoothly, but performs for example slow on You tube. Never the less I normally use Opera, because it fits my needs mostly. This all maybe of course temporary until OS2008 is full-grown. As I am quite happy with my N800 -used it in many Us and EU hotels, ...on the mall in DC linking to Smithsonian and ...on the beach in Italy - I will certainly try the OS 2008. However I am getting somewhat concerned that Opera is not available in OS2008 and that -maybe- I cannot switch back to OS2007 with Opera. Today I issued a FEEDBACK to the Nokia Support Site stressing them to keep OS 2007 available. I think this may be important. Nevertheless I love the N800. Have fun, Abel |

Anyway, I'm currently using my N810@800 OS2008 with good results, I can wait some more time. |
