Although I do not shop at Walmart for ethical reasons, I thought I would post this anyway. Dealnews.com is a great resource for finding stuff at better prices on the net.

Walmart.com cut its price on the Nokia 770 Internet Tablet to $159.97 plus 97 cents for shipping. That's a $16 drop since our October mention and the lowest total price we've seen August. Sales tax is added where applicable. This tablet features an 800x480 touch screen, 128MB internal memory, 802.11g wireless, RS-MMC card slot, and both Bluetooth and USB connectivity.

I was going to say roughly the same thing. The N800 will run you about $220 (unless there's a better deal going on that I don't know about), but it's WELL worth the extra $60 in my opinion.

FYI, Buy.com has it for $217.54 shipped if you didn't already see that in this thread.

How many do they have?
Knowing that would sell them quicker regardless of price.

The Nokia Tablet can do a couple of things really well. It may be the 800's can do those things better... maybe.

Imagine a whole lot of 'em remotely reporting their information to a central server?

Does anyone know how many were made?

Pfft. Having used both extensively, I can state quite certainly that the N800 does everything better than the 770. :P

Yes, but perhaps better isn't a requirement of the function?

The couple of things may not have been exploited by the software that you used. However, software can use the functions of all the tablets better than any other commercially available mobile device, under $500, in most countries dollars ( 'cept maybe the BiWi's :) )


Imagine what other privately developed software, remotely reporting, and managing as many functions (but different DATA) could do?

I guess what I'm saying is, the value of the tablets are relative to the sum value of what they could replace.
What they replace is relative to the function required of them.

What DATA they collect, manage, receive, and/or transmit is not relevant. What may be relevant is how many are available that can run the software to collect, manage, receive, and/or transmit the DATA...
