Since I am a internet tablet newb and a linux newb I need help understanding for example I am trying to install battlegweled but I can because I am missing package "libsdl-net1.2" I have no clue how to get the missing packages can some one help please.

If I were you I would check out the wiki FAQ about this.
There are also articels in the maemo.org wiki that cover how to install missing dependencies using red pill mode

Do a search here for repositories. It seems a lot of the developers roll their own.
