Navicore/Wayfinder download issues with OS2008
I just installed the OS2008, but I am now having trouble with Wayfinder. I have entered my Navicore license code, but the map download has proven to be impossible. The download begins, but then it just stops and I get a message telling me that the download has failed. Has anyone had this same problem, and if so, do you have any suggestions? This sure is frustrating.

few people reported this problem when they did not have enough free space on their internal MMC card.

I'm getting the same error but have got a 2GB memory card with about 100mb filed and it won't download even a 7mb map... so that's not the only cause.

I just tried to download Greece map (7MB) and it worked fine for for me. Not sure what the problem can be.

I too had the problem of no download on the maps. Thanks to a nice fellow who posted this link:
http://www.navicoretech.com/Consumer.../en_GB/tablet/ I downloaded and extracted the maps from Navicore. Took the folder mapdata_USA West and pasted it to the folder "map" created on my SD card by all the failed download attempts and viola, we've got map. |
Re: Navicore/Wayfinder download issues with OS2008
745MB for the Eastern USA maps? My ISP cuts me back to dial up speed after 200MB downloads in a 24 hour period. The fair access policy punishment lasts for 24 hours. Why can't these maps be available on CD or DVD for purchase. I can't be the only one with this predicament.

I'd been trying to download the maps for days with no luck, copying over from the SD card did the trick. |

The ISP is Hughesnet satellite ISP. It's the only choice for (semi) broadband service in this rural area at the present time. Tehy call this limitation the "fair access policy." Currently you can circumvent the the policy by downloading between 3 and 6:00 am but I'm old and pooped and need my rest. i dream of DSL coming here someday. |
