Does the left side of your screen seem brighter than the right?
 

Hey guys. Merry Christmas to you all. Just got a Nokia N800 internet tablet for xmas.

The device is absoloutley amazing! Enjoying it greatly, just upgraded it to OS2008 too. Now I was waiting for a webpage to load and in full screen so it was all white. It seemed to me the left side was brighter than the right side, but im not sure. Does anyone else notice this or is a problem like this known? I only see it on pure white screens, other than that its not noticable.

Another thing was, after upgrading to OS2008, did the sound output get quieter? I swear its just my senses playing with me.

The darker right side is absolutely normal. All the N800 has that backlight peculiarity. Nothing to be worried about.
Regarding the sound, after I have upgraded mine I did'nt noted any change in sound output.

Thanks for the quick reply, I can relax about it now :D

As for the sound im not too worried about it as I thought it might be to do with new EU regulations. People have been complaining about iPods not being loud enough, this is because the EU has put restrictions on the volume level, I thought they may have introduced this in the new software upgrade, but I guess it is just my senses playing with me.

If some mod has been introduced due to EU regulations, by sure any smartguy will be giving the hack to increase the sound output level soon.

Edit; What are the benefits of flashing my n800? Ive just bought it and upgraded it to OS2008, will flashing help me? Thanks again.

If you "upgraded it to OS2008" then you already did "flash" it. Flashing it is nothing more then re-writing the OS like you've done. Assuming you have the first final version of OS2008 on there (no the beta), there isn't anything to gain in doing it again.

Oh I see. I upgraded it a couple of days back and it was the proper OS2008, not the beta since I did it through the official Nokia installer.

What's going on guy's? I just got the N800 from Buy.com (and couldn't be happier with my purchase!) for $170 and I have one question about the screen. I noticed that on the left side of the screen going down to the bottom right there is a slight discoloration in the screen. If you weren't looking for it you probably wouldn't see it but I know it's there so it's bothering me. I did notice that if I push lightly on the back of the unit where the discoloration is it sort of ripples the screen there and nowhere else. Has anyone else heard of this issue? I was thinking about calling Nokia for warranty service but don't know if it's really worth it.
